Ugly bunnies

Post by buddabun on Sat Jul 26, 2008 2:27 pm

Has anyone ever seen one?!

I know we all look at our own bunnies and think they are the cutest ever (who wouldn't?) but has anyone actually come across a bun that isn't deliciously scrumptiously fluffily cute?

A pondering... Suspect

that's natural selection at work for you! Maybe the ancient "Oryctolagus monstrocitus" was tastier than all its prettier cousins and so got eaten more.

Or maybe it was so caught up in just how unattractive it was that it was forever grooming itself, washing itself and staring into shiny puddles wishfully, leaving it open to predation more than the bunnies who were secure in their beauty and were not distracted, enabling them to run and hide, hence surviving to be the ancestors of the modern domestic rabbit, "Oryctolagus cuniculus exquisitus"

I don't think McQueen is "cute" by any means. Attractive, maybe but not cute. However I find cross breeds to be the best looking rabbits....pure breeds are to precise.

Interesting. I don't think I have, though I do think you can be drawn to certain bunnies. I've always felt I was picked by my pets rather then me choosing them. I fell hook line and sinker when I saw Tarquin on Sheffield Forum - but then Sooz always was good at describing her buns in a way that made you fall desperately in love (and it was the description I saw before the photo - seeing the photo just completely finished me off) Very Happy

Edited: in fact after getting T I had to force myself not to look at the bunnies Sooz had or I might have ended up with a houseful Laughing Laughing

hideous buns Laughing

I think missy is cute.

Maybe it's 'cos they are all such characters. And McQueen is very attractive!

I just don't think I've ever seen a bunny that wasn't attractive.. it's odd Hmmm Maybe it's something in us that makes all bunnies seem fab

There are rabbits which I wouldn't choose to have but it's not because I think they are ugly, I just find myself drawn to certain bunnies.

I think often because you see them before you get to know them most people get a rabbit on looks rather than personality.

Carlton was pretty ugly when I first got him but I didn't love him any less. :luv: He's grown into his looks with age.
