At the moment it's very important to keep his digestive system moving so it's really worth it .

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
Oh goodness I have only just caught up with this.
Is he eating by himself at all?
The syringe feeding is a good thing to do if he isnt eating by himself. Ensure that the water you are giving him isnt cold - ever so slightly warm is better.
I dont know much about anemia in buns but I do know that foods like broccoli are very high in iron and good for people who are anemic. Perhaps try him on a little bit of this.
Sending lots and lots of vibes for him x x x

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
He doesn't eat or drink anything by himself.. That's why we have to syringe feed him everything even his favourite pellets.. We can't wait for tomorrow to have a little clarity on what's going on with him. He really puts up a fight whenever we try to give him anything and he hasn't really moved all day. We're not sure if we have to keep feeding him every two hours even past midnight?

Yeah his poos are firming up but they're smaller than usual although that doesn't surprise me he also pee's fine.. He peed all over our bed at night.. It was when we wanted to feed him and he kept trying to run away but we thought he just didn't wanna be fed, so it's our own fault
Now we just have to wait for the vet to call ><

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
yes he did improve more he's moving a whole lot more and he's eating more too, but not spontaneously haha we have to really put the pellets in his mouth, but he does eat hay by himself we're just gonna keep him in the bedroom for another night so we can keep an eye on him, but we think by the day after tomorrow he should be fine thanks everyone for the support

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
You can try soaking the pellets so they are easier to chew. That might encourage him to eat them.

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
Today he was doing all right too, but his poos are soft again, so we gave him some banana and syringe fed him warm water which he wouldn't stop drinking poor thing
Everything we lay down for G that's soft and warm he ignores or removes from himself, but B gladly uses them for him little clowns that they are
What else can I do to help him firm up his poos?

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
I am glad he is better love, it is such a relief. Our Mr Suffles loves banana and when he is off colour, we tend to give him pineapple juice in a syringe.
I have bunny pee on my bed too, so most of my bed is covered with a mattress protector and newspaper. He sleeps on my bed and due to his age, he has the odd little accident.
Hugs
Jo xx

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
Update: Garrus is doing much better in fact he's doing so well that we think that by tomorrow he'll be back to "normal" ^^
We do still wonder what we can do to help his anemia.. We googled for ages and we still haven't found anything
In any case we would both like to thank everyone for being so supportive
And we'll keep the newspaper and mattress protector in mind in case we ever have to keep one of the buns close at night again

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
Oh no bad news.. We just called the vet who finally had the results of Garrus' blood test and he said they found a cell that looks like leukaemia? He did say that it was only one cell or something and that maybe it just acted weird because he was so sick and that we should take another blood sample after a few weeks to see if there are more cells like that.
If he Does have leukaemia there's nothing we can do but I don't understand how he can have it? Garrus' parents were both very healthy looking.
I reallyreallyreally hope he doesn't have leukaemia >< he'd better be healthy forever

I hope that isn't the case.
Do you have to take him back to the vet?

I'm so sorry it wasn't good news from the vet. I don't know anything about lukemia in buns I'm afraid.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it's a false alarm.

Re: UD: Garrus has Anemia
They said we have to take him back in a few weeks for a new blood test, but I'm not sure when exactly.. The vet said take him immediately if he seems sick again, but otherwise we don't know when. Maybe about 3 weeks is enough?
