Thumper doesn't want to
eat during the day.
She's such a strange girl! She will eat whatever I give her of an evening and her tea is gobbled up by morning, but she just picks at her food during the day
Maybe she's just asleep all day.....
I'm puzzled!

Re: Thumper doesn't want to
I thought rabbits were were most active in the morning and evening, so maybe she is sleeping a lot more during the day. She is an elderly lady bun after all!

Re: Thumper doesn't want to
That's exactly what I was thinking.
I thought I'd be smart and just feed her extra at night, but she's far too clever for that Ate the usual amount and the rest was left. She's such a smart ass

Re: Thumper doesn't want to
Rabbits are crepuscula which means they are most active around the hours of dusk and dawn. But they spend the hours of darkness socialising and feeding. They sleep, or go below ground during the day.
But domestic rabbits don't have to go foraging, we decide to a great degree when they eat certain foods, we put down their pellets and veggies at given times.
I noticed that my outdoor buns feeding behavior, indeed all their behaviour, changed with the seasons. Veggies and pellets tended to be left until night for consumption during the longer hours of darkness in autumn and winter. My houserabbits hardly changed their feeding, sleeping routines.

Re: Thumper doesn't want to
I thought they would eat at dusk and dawn as thats how they are fed ay young uns from the mother xx
Re: Thumper doesn't want to
If it was down to the dawn/dusk factor (which I did momentarily consider) then it just makes me wonder why she's not done this every year.
The bowl was emptied today, so I think I'm decided that she's not eating it during the week because she's asleep - no one around by day to wake her up.
I think
Bless her
