Hutch huggers and heat pads? Empty Hutch huggers and heat pads?

Post by Karen1980 Sat Oct 15, 2011 11:09 pm

Tyson as im sure some people may recall has been ill this summer but is looking good now.

Im concerned about the cold setting in, I have tried to bring him in over the winter before but he doesnt like it.

Last year we bundled the hutch with hay and always have a dust sheet to snuggle them down in.

I saw him snuggled with the girls tonight and need some advice on the bets products to keep them warm.

I was thinking of a hutch hugger with some of that silver encased roof insulation underneath to keep them warm (between the hugger and the hutch) and some kind of non toxic safe hot water bottle?

Ive seem the nasa hutch huggers with the fly screen, does anyone you this in conjunction with the hutch hugger?

Any advice greatfully received.

I have a hutch cover for the buns which has the silver thermal lining Very Happy

I ordered it from a man on ebay who makes them to size as my hutch is joiner made and not regular size.

Back and both sides have thermal lining and front has night cover as well as rain cover both of which are detachable Very Happy

Flopsy has gone through 4 winters with no problems at all, their hutch isnt stuffed with hay. They have a carpet put down upstairs for winter and i either put fleece blankets down on top or buy them a dog bed/mat to lay on.

They are snuggly warm enough with insulation Very Happy

Its also very rare that the water bowl freezes up Very Happy

Thanks

Ive searched ebay and cant find him No

There are quite a few on there but this guy was much much better as the insulation was on inside (not outside like some of them are) and full cover is rainproof. It also came in blue or green.

I'll keep searching as i may need a new one myself in a few years.

So sorry i couldnt find him Sad

ive got one of them heatpads for them, also got a vetbed and a refelctabed(sp?) its like a vetbed but it reflects the heat,so it gets nice and warm for them and iam going to do some other things too

I used to have a flectabed but the buns tore it to shreds. Plain old vetbed will improve the temperature for your bun. I also have both the cover and the silver insulation layer on the piggie hutch and they go through the winter with very little in the way of problems.
