Litter tray help please!! Empty Litter tray help please!!

Post by Karen1980 Fri Oct 21, 2011 8:35 am

Milo 'was a house bunny' I saw was as I am not 100% convinced.

When we got him in July he was a year old and entire.

We got him neutered in Sept 2011.

Prior to neutering he sprayed the walls door frames all sorts and pee's in the front room and bathroom as well as being messy in his room.

Post neuter the spraying has stopped but he keeps peeing in the bathroom or outside the bathroom door and my front room.

I have no idea what to do.

He uses his litter tray in his bed.

Its almost as if he saves it up to pee somewhere naughty.

Im thinking to put out litter trays but that means I'll have 3 round the house and hubby isn't happy.

Cleaning and disinfecting the carpet isn't working as I can still smell the pee if I sniff the carpet the next day so he must be able to still smell it too.

Ive tried disinfecting the bathroom floor with savlon and still no difference.

Im out of ideas and don't want to have to out him in the garden (would have to wait til spring now anyhow).

As far as smelly carpets go, have you tried simple solution? Mine peed on their foam mats once and i had no idea it had gone down the joins. 3 weeks later, i removed them to reshuffle my room and i found a crusty but saturated carpet. I use simple solution on all accidents, and it works. It took 3 attempts and 4 days to dry, but the smell is no longer there. It was trialed on Channel 4's Animal Mad House and came out on top. Smile

As far as litter training him goes, maybe try using some litter trays in the areas where he wees. Have his main one filled with substrate/bedding and hay but the others just put substrate in. Hopefully they wont be as attractive anymore? I tried this with mine, and i was eventually able to just have one big litter tray. Takes a while and lots of patience, but it was worth it. Some buns are just stubborn though, you may just have to give him as many litter trays as he wants! Laughing

Yeah, Simple solution is much better than vanish, its especially for animal woopsies. Smile The carpet cleaning os a good idea, but i would get some simple solution then use the industrial carpet thing. xx

I would guess that there was something in the smell of that piece of flooring that was encouraging him to pee there in the first place.

when we were training the dog we cleaned up with a non bio soap powder as it has no amonia and takes away all smells so there is less encouragement xx

Ive never seen it in a supermarket. You can get it online, but i got mine from a local farm shop. It shouldnt be too hard to get hold of. Maybe google it and see where you closest stockist is.
