I've bought her back in again as she went a bit quiet, so she has been sat on the sofa on her fleece blankedt. I hand fed her some cranberries and cut some fresh grass from the front lawn (things we do for our buns eh?!) I think I will keep her indoors again tonight in the cage. Just a bit worried about how Hermione will respond to her when she goes back in the playhouse. hermione is very hormonal at present and had made a fur nest earlier in the week. I wish i could have had them done together but our car keeps needing stuff done to it and it's eating away our bank account. No

She hasn't poo'd since this morning but she is eating small amounts of food every now and then. I'm sure Hazel and Faline were eating by now properly but I cannot remember. I'll keep an eye on her anyway, I gave her a little cuddle earlier and she tooth purred a little Smile

Every bunny I have had love, when coming back from being spayed, has not eaten until the next day, sometimes quite late. Try her with parsley, mine love it.

Loving thingies toyou and your little ones.

Hugs

I'm glad she feels a bit better Smile

Another night or two indoors is probably not a bad idea. How long is before her follow-up checkup?

They didn't mention that. DH picked her up so didn't really know what questions to ask. I'm going to phone them tomorrow anyway just to talk through how she has been. I'm hoping to take her back so they can give her some pain relief. The wound site is clean and she hasn't been nibbling it or anything.

She has eaten the parsley I gave her, and a few cranberries and had a munch on some pellets. She is sat in the carrier onthe sofa with me at them mo bless her.

Easter worsened over night Smile She sat on my lap last night for almost two hours and didn't move which is unlike her, those mini rex of mine are nutters usually. I tried to tempt her to eat but no joy. I put her to bed and this morning she had a few tiny poos but not much and her sides were all sucked in Sad

I have just got back from the vets, she was really helpful and said that the wound site is clean and healing well, she is in pain, but also the stress of it has affected her. She gave her a pain killing injection and something to get her gut moving as she could feel a build up of pellets inside her.
I've got to syringe feed her some science selective recovery food and give her some zantac with it to reduce stomach acid, and tomorrow give her some metacam for the pain. If she isn't better by sunday, they will admit her and care for her themselves. Sad

please send vibes to my beautiful bunny, Easter, thank youEaster on the mend..yay!!!!! - Page 2 Th_buns004

I have feed her the recovery food, she is sooooo good for me and just lets me syringe it into the side of her mouth. She has a little napkin so it doesn't dribble down her fur Smile

She has been eating her hay and her sides aren't sucked in as much anymore. I think she is over the worst and I feel better knowing she has additional pain relief for tomorrow. If she carries on taking the food and eating her hay she won't need to stay at the vets.

Only thing I am worried about now is how her sister will react when she goes back to join them in a few days. Boo is quite laid back but Hermione is very hormonal and has made herself top bun in the trio. May have to do some re bonding there.

It sounds like it's pain causing the problem, so hopefully the pain relief will help.

When you take Hermione in, I would ask them to give you two or three days-worth of pain relief for her for afterwards. I can't imagine a bun coming home from a spay without it really Hmmm

I hope she is feeling lots better soon Hugs

I'm sorry to hear she is still poorly, try giving her some water every 2 hours about 10-15 mls in a 1ml syringe as she could be dehydrated as sometimes this is overlooked when bunnies are not eating and a couple of syringes of water can make a big difference. Do you know if your vet gave Easter any fluids.

I don't know Maisey, she never mentioned water. Good idea though about syringing water to her, i have put a shallow water bowl in the cage for her and I have seen her drinking from it. She also been grooming herself.
The poo she does do is very small, compact and dark, not the usual plump ones she does.

Sparky, you know it amazes me they don't come home with pain relief. I've had 3 c -sections and I had pain relief for up to 2 weeks after each one. I couldn't have gone home the same day without pain relief, it would have been awful. I think they should give you 2 to 3 days worth afterwards. I guess they worry you might OD the rabbit???

I think Easter and I are going to have cuddles on the sofa again Smile I need to give her the antacid and more food and some water and plenty of tlc.

Thank you all for all your kindness Smile

If Easter's poop's are small and dark and dry that can be a sign of dehydration, if she is sunk in at the sides I think I have read that on this thread somewhere that can be another sign and if I am right the more water she drinks you should see an improvement, or I hope you do Smile

Come on Easter prove me right xxxx

All of our lot had pain relief for 3 days after. If I was you I would insist on it for Hermione, or use another vet who will give it. I can't believe they would worry about OD-ing. People who couldn't manage to suck up the correct dose in the syringe are probably too thick to find the vets in the first place Wink Laughing

Florence was given Metacam but she refused to take it!! I had such arguments with her over it, in the end I gave up. I tried everything from putting it on bread (she weed on it) to bribery.

I still have the Metacam if anyone wants it. She had two doses from it and that's it, and one of those I had to take it with me to her check up for the vet to do it Laughing
