What Is It With My Bunnies And Fish Tanks?! Empty What Is It With My Bunnies And Fish Tanks?!

Post by icedancer Mon Apr 09, 2012 2:49 pm

I've mentioned before how Florence used to have hissy jealousy fits when I cleaned out the fish, that's just about stopped since Dougal moved in.

Then today I've collected a new, larger tank, and cabinet for my new flat. I've put the tank on the floor next to the pen temporarily, and Dougal is sat there thumping at it Shocked I've asked him what's wrong, but for some reason he just doesn't like it No

Any ideas?!

Can he see his reflection in it? He could think there's another bun kicking about the house.

Oooh that's a good point, he is a bit stupid! I wonder if that's why he thumps at nothing sometimes, he sees his reflection in the patio door.

Poor special Dougal!

I think with rabbits anything that moves and is a lot smaller is confusing to them and they can't work it out and see it as a threat maybe Laughing

The tank is 2.5foot long! Maybe he just couldn't work out what it was, and how it got there!

He's fine now, bless him Love

This thread has tickled me; I have known a couple of cases of animals have mistaking their reflection for another pet LOL!!

Hugs

I have the same with my cat, Gizmo and the TV. I was watching a documentary about birds and he was hilarious.

He had a good look at the TV, before jumping at it and pawing at the screen. Hmm, bird not there.

Then he looked to the left of the screen. That's weird... where is it?

Then he looked to the right. OK mummy, this is getting confusing now.

Then he jumped behind the TV, and peeked his head and paws around the side trying to get at them. What's going on? I'm a confused kitty!

Then he jumped on the top of the TV and pawed at the screen from the top.

Then he gave up and disappeared outside. And the little sod returned with a blackbird No
