How large of a indoor cage would we need for 2 med adult rabbits? They are both females and working on becoming bonded so hopefully they can live together inside this winter. They currently live in separate cages outside.

The answer is as large as you can possibly manage. A bun can never have too much space.

Are they going to have free range time?

Lots of people use a large cage with a large pen attached to it so that the buns have enough room to run stretch upwards and binky.

The Criteria that RWAF and the RSPCA reccommend is a hutch of no less than 6x2x2 with a 6x4x2 run attached so I guess this kind of area would be the mimimum really.

Hello Valpal22, and welcome to the forum Wave

When I had an indoor bun, she lived in a trixie play house with a puppy pen attached, and it ran down the side of the back room so it didn't intrude too much into the room. When we were at home, she had freerange of the back room.
I did have to secure the top with some mesh as she would jump out, but the set up seemed to suit her. I put a piece of tarp over the carpet and put a fleece blanket down for her, luckily she used her litter tray for wees and poos.
hope this help

My pair have a whole room to themselves plus extra access to the rest of the downstairs of the house when I am home. They use all of it.

I would opt for a large puppy pen as apposed to a actual cage, line the floor with cheap lino, which is easy to just replace when it gets worn or nibbled. A good size dog bed full of stray, a few litter trays, when your out cover it with a mesh sheet tho as they can jump, if you can offer them a room thats even better just make sure no wires are easy to access. Or section of your room, allowing them out of the encloses space as often as you can.

We have a small two bedroom house and have two children so the rabbits won't have their own room for sure LOL.

I will also add that we have two cats, a dog, and a guinea pig. The guinea pig has a huge cage, I believe it's called the Midwest Expandable Guinea Habitat http://www.amazon.com/Midwest-Homes-for-Pets-171GH/dp/B001NJ0DPY

We have one cat the jumps in there with him. I don't know how the carts will react to the rabbits, that haven't seen them yet as they are outside right now.

We may opt to housing them in our garage over the winter instead of in the house. Space is very limited in our house. I know it would be better for them in a warm house, but it just might not work for us right now. They have never lived inside in the winter. The previous owner kept them in their chicken barn, I want to provide the best home that we can with what we have.
