Thoughts please Empty Thoughts please

Post by Guest Fri Jul 12, 2013 9:23 pm

Whilst giving Bruce a completely unappreciated brush today I noted that Bruce's ears are very dry and flaky again. I have checked him over and there is no flaky skin around the neck or back so I am assuming it is just dry skin (and have slathered his ears in calendula cream which was also not appreciated) but opinions would be gratefully received.

Could it be ear mites? How do they look further in?

The ears look fine, but then until it gets too bad they would. I think I am going to try and take him to the vets for some ivermectin just in case.

Back from the vets - They couldn't see any mites under the microscope but we are treating just in case. Most likely it is related to this heavy sudden moult caused by the hot weather. He is even shedding fur from his ears!

That is great news love. Mr Snuffles used to get very flaky ears and the vet confirmed that it was not definately not mites but part of a moult.
