In a situation here!
So lucky I joined tonight! (I hope this is the correct place)
Ok so when we got our two 3 month old rabbits, they came with a hutch that their mother was in for a short while. (We cleaned it thoroughly).
I have just been to check on Daisy (That is in the hutch) and it is leaking! The wooden panels at the back have moved so therefore their is a gap letting rain through. She is now in a cat carrier for the night & in the morning we're off out to buy her & her brother (when he's neutered) a brand new hutch, we was debating on just getting a cover for her hutch at the moment but we was going to buy a new one anyways.
What size will be suitable for them both? We're wanting a two story, or a shed we already have a run so a run ins't necessary.
If we don't find one in the morning we will be ordering one off eBay and putting her hutch that is leaking in our current shed(gym) until it arrives.
Price range is just £100.

Re: In a situation here!
Ideally you want something 6' x 2' x 2' at least. However, on that budget I realise that may be difficult. I know our hu-parents spent £600 on the outdoor setup hutches (two 3 tier 6' x 2') and hudad was less than impressed with the quality. He plans to re-build it later this year.
He'd be happy to build something for you if you want. It would be built to last and it would be cheaper than a store bought hutch. As an example, he built a 5' x 2'6" (extra deep) two storey hutch for Max and Mason using 2" x 1" timber with OSB board. That cost around £80 in materials and he already had the paint. Although you shouldn't need a two storey hutch for your two.

Re: In a situation here!
I would recommend taking hudad up on his offer. The wood buns have and impressive set up.
As for what you need to provide I refer you to this leafet from the RWAF - http://www.rabbitwelfare.co.uk/resources/content/leaflet_pdfs/animal_welfare_bill_lft.pdf

Re: In a situation here!
Sounds like a brilliant offer from Sparkys Hudad. He might even be able to attach it somehow too???
The minimum that should ever be considered is 6x2x2 with a 6x4x2 run attached, that they have access to during daylight hours. - this gives them adequate space.
We have a shed set up It cost around £150 and then I spent about another £50 on insulating and flooring it.
Good luck hunni!

Re: In a situation here!
Thank you for all of your thoughts and ideas
In the near future id like to get them a luxury home, but as of now I'm on budget as its my parents that are paying! .
Father Jack - What hutch would you recommend for them if not a double?.. A single? I may take you up on the offer as today we went out and couldn't find one suitable (or that we liked).

Re: In a situation here!
Single storey should be fine. As big as possible really. If you have space, hudad could build one 6' long and 2'6" deep. Those extra 6" make all the difference

Re: In a situation here!
What ever you think that is best In the mean time we have put Daisy's hutch inside the large shed. We where thinking to wait until August now to get a hutch as Daisy seem's OK in her old hutch at the moment. As long as she's safe and doesn't have wet substrate I'm not fussed and she seems happy with the layout. We have also put Henry inside in front of her hutch so they're still able to bond/smell each other.
I'm not very good at measurements so I will take a picture of the space, it's quite large really.
How much would you charge for a double story and/or a 6' single?

Re: In a situation here!
Thank you! Here is the space where the hutch can fit. (Sorry about the mess!) We have two second hand hutches off of my aunty that are no good and a vivarium that needs to go to the tip! When the weather becomes right everything in that corner will be moved, except from the big white box below the window as it is a air con.

Re: In a situation here!
You could easily have something 6' x 2'6" there and have a run attached
If you want to drop me a PM with your number I'll get hudad to arrange to pop over to go through ideas and give you a rough idea of how it'll look
