My lungs are too irritated and chest too tight to let me sleep Hissy

3rd night running.

I'm exhausted but every time I start to drift off I start to cough and wake up.

Not really sure what else they could do. I've got steroids, which are helping a little. I'm not convinced it's a bacterial infection so antibiotics would be no good.

Coughing myself sick now Sad

You have to be about half dead with pretty low SATs to get a home neb.

Trying to treat myself with steam inhalation, extra inhaler and cough medicines!

And OH is making me Thai curry in the hope it will help get some of the green stuff out of my chest!

You sound like me when I have bronchitis as I cough all night and can't sleep and end up so tired and drained that's why I
hate catching a cold as it leads straight to bronchitis Sad

Awful isn't it? Got marginally more sleep last night as I knocked myself out with cough medicine. About to ring emergency doctor.

It would appear I have a chest infection Sad Dr has increased my steroids and put me on antibiotics.

The best thing? I've slept this afternoon! I think it's the extra steroids.

I'm very wobbly though, feel I could keel over every time I get out of bed!

You rest up, young lady Hugs

Humum had a horrible yuck last September that made her feel like that, you have to give yourself a chance to recover from it.

Yeah, I had one of these 3 or so years ago - when I was eventually diagnosed with asthma. I was ill well over a month, and it kept coming back and back. Hope this one goes quick and stays away!

Just saw this! Please take care of yourself! Drink lots of hot tea. It has natural xanthines in it.(chocolate does too) Xanthines relax the smooth muscle tissue that is in the bronchial tubes thereby diminishing bronco spasm
and making it easier to cough the **** up.

Any excuse for chocolate! Sending mega vibes!

Thanks Holly. A friend who is a Dr tells me to keep away from chocolate and milky type things when my chest throws a hissy fit like this. Not sure what the science is behind it though!

OH is getting me some (purely medicinal) ice cream today. She is awesome!

Thanks Smile I think I'm a little better, although it's up and down and I'm still not managing much in the way of sleep.

OH is being wonderful - honestly without her here I'd be in a bad way as the stairs are like Everest for my crappy lungs!

It must be bad - my parents are sympathetic/worried instead of telling me to pull myself together (the perils of being the daughter of a medical professional - you have to be proper poorly to get any sympathy!)

I should have been more specific. Embarassed Milk and it's products do thicken the mucus so milk chocolate can thicken it. Dark chocolate however has no milk in it. Dark chocolate has only cocoa, coco butter and sugar to taste if you want sweetness. Chocolate has natural lecithin in it but sometimes the manufacturers add more. The lecithin lowers your cholesterol. The higher the amount of coco the more bitter the chocolate and more intense the health benefits. It also has flavonoids which are anti-oxidents. My favorite reason for eating my dark chocolate is that it is high in alkaloids such as theobromine and phenethylamine which increase the serotonin level in the brain. Since the serotonin makes your mood better, you may still be sick but you can feel better about being sick! Laughing

A fruit ice or sorbet is a good alternate to ice cream....especially if it is made with real fruit. I like to eat lemon sorbet when I have the crud for the vitamin C. If I can find it that is.
