Junior's eye :(

Post by Thumper2001 on Fri Mar 29, 2013 5:21 pm

Nobun has groomed the other until recently Molly started grooming Juniors eyes and ears.

His eye looks like this today Sad

I know it's not great quality, I couldn't get him to sit still.

Do you think it looks like its just a graze? Perhaps Molly has nipped him or has been a bit rough with him?

Odd marks around the eye make me worry, as is probably the case with most hoppers Sad

It's not a brilliant pic but I think I see the little mark on his upper eyelid that is concerning you.

We have had buns who when being bonded for some reason tend to groom the eyes of the other bun and sometimes nip there (Rosie was a little tinker for this). I would ask if he is bothered if you touch it but buns don't generally like being touched around the eyes at all Rolling Eyes

I'd keep an eye (sorry) on it for now....

Oh yes, warm salted water should help keep it clean and will soothe it if it is a bit sore Thumbs Up

Then a fenugreek crunchie should help soothe his feelings afterwards Wink

I would have thought the risk would be incredibly low at this time of year, with the weather as cold as it has been.

You could make yourself really popular and have a look at his genitals....

Yes you're right, but I tend to jump to worst case scenario when it comes to my bunnies Embarassed

It doesn't look like Mixi Hun, looks
like maybe an infected follicle ?

I would give it a salt water wash and if its not better tues take him to the vets.

I've never worried too much about the solution strength, I'd guess at about 1/2 teaspoon salt to 250ml boiled, cooled water. I think sea salt is best if you have it but any salt would be better than plain water.

Thanks, Rob.

I think Molly did it. I've just seen her at his eye again.

Maybe she'll think twice when she does it again and it tastes like salt Twisted Evil

Molly is a little sod! The salt didn't put her off at all but after I put them to bed lasts night I heard frantic chasing around the pen, so maybe he told her off!

I ran up the stairs like a shot because it sounded like world war 3 had kicked off up there Shocked
