My Dougal weighs 1.7kg so do I give him 2kg worth dosage of the paste or 1, it says whatever dosage, can't remember off top of my head for every kilo?

They had no shredded wheat at LIDL- boooo, I can't try the Sparkys trick now, I will have to put it on a fenugreek crunchie, hope he eats it

I think it's one division for a 2kg bun - he's close enough to 2kg, you can't really overdose on Panacur Thumbs Up

I don't really know about the dosage but just wanted to let you know that both of mine take their Panacur on Fenugreek Crunchies (and any other meds!), so I hope Dougal does too Very Happy

Panacur Paste question Empty Re: Panacur Paste question

Post by BugsBunny Thu Jun 13, 2013 5:34 pm

Nope he did not the little monkey lol, he spat it out onto the megazorb and run off so I tried a basil leaf and he took part of it but left most of it and would not take it, so then I tried it on the leaf wrapped in dried naturals dandelion mix and he again ate all of the other stuff around it :lol:so then I had to get a bit if the excel grass roll thing I got him and open that put it in the paper part it is wrapped in and rub it together so it got into the grass/dandelion roll with another leaf and he finally ate it but even then he knew and would not eat fully til a bit later.

Too clever that bunny , there is no fooling him Laughing, he had slightly more than he should in the end but not a lot so since he cannot OD on it he should be fine ROFL

You are fine with the 2kg dose.  Barley is lighter than sasha - he's the same as your bun and I gave them the same dose as recommended by my vet.

I used cereal called malt wheaties from aldi, Tesco or asda. They are like little grids and the panacur soaks into them. Buns wolfed them down.

For future note - Panacur also comes as a 10% liquid. The benefit of it over the paste is that you give a smaller more accurate dose to your bun, and you get loads more of it for your money. This is not a big deal when you are giving a 7 day course but if you have to give a full 28 day course it makes a big difference financially. As Nickie said, any of the 100% wheat cereals are ok to use as the package for your meds. Just make sure they have no sugar or salt added to them.

The equivalent of Shreddies, they are not good for buns and should only be given extremely rarely as one-offs. They contain sugars and preservatives unlike Shredded Wheat which is completely free of any additives.

Well I tried him again today and he ate the little bit if grass roll with the paste in and also the fenugreek crunchie I squirted onto that just in-case I gave too much and so there was some soaked in and on it but this time he took it so he has had his full dose again today.

Ye Dougal does, I just break bits off it and give him it so I don't give him too much at once, getting his tummy used to things as he is 5 months old, well almost, I thought he had turned 5 months old last week but he is 5 months old next Tues. He also loves the naturals dandelion mix, which he has some in his carrier at the moment to encourage him to go in it again and of course the fenugreek ( bunny crack) as I call it Laughing.  Dougal has been introduced to basil lately and he loves it.What else does your bun like to eat as a treat?

Mine love all of the treats from the Naturals Range. I try to stick to natural treats with no colours or sugars etc, so just dried herbs, fruit twigs are a big hit, Fenugreek Crunchies, they also love banana chips and shredded wheat! Very Happy

Us lot get nananana chips but only tiny bits. I think they're just dried, I don't believe they have sugar added although I suppose bananananana has sugars in anyway.

Common twigs for buns are apple and willow - we can also have birch (we have a birch tree) and other fruit wood.

Here's one of many safe-forage lists: http://www.bunnyhugga.com/a-to-z/feeding/poisonous-plants.html

Thanks, will try him with nana chips then at some point, be nice and tasty for him.

Thanks, I have the excel willow sticks that are apple, hazelnut and whatever else was in the pace. Dougal likes them but only gnaws on certain ones. No idea which ones he prefers as they are all the same and nothing to differentiate the flavors form each other.

Thanks for the link.
