Something really bizarre just happened

Post by cheryl'n'bruce'flo on Sat Jul 13, 2013 6:11 pm

So Flo had shed her sock (yep the vet says she has to have it on again) so I caught her and put it back on. Whilst I had her I was giving her a bit of a check over and decided to wet the outside of her ears a bit as they were (unsurprisingly) quite warm. And that is when something really odd happened. I had her supported with my hand under her bum which was around my belly area and her front legs were resting just under my collarbone, so she lying quite long vertically (if that makes sense). I put my free hand over the top of her head to stroke her ears and it was like it was a magnet! I wasn't gripping and I certainly wasn't pulling yet the front of Flo's body tensed up and rose away from me. She was ok when I had each ear individually but every time I put my hand on the top of her head to stroke both ears the same thing happened. It was really bizarre. I can only really liken it to trancing, although Flo has never shown any inclination to go into a trance and she was the wrong way up for it in this instance. I think I have just learnt a little bit more about why Flo does not like to be touched.

Calm as she is able to be. She wasn't snuggling but she was not yet chomping her teeth at me.

It sounds a bit like what Mason does - when his head is being stroked he pushes up really hard against your hand. At first Humum thought she was being pushed away, but if you stop he demands more of the same. Mason actually loves fuss though.

I tried it this morning when I gave her her metacam to see if it is a consistent thing. Nothing. No reaction whatsoever. I was very bizarre.

This is interesting Cheryl love, you certainly learn something new every day. The only time I turn Binky over is for a brush and he just lies there, but I will look out for this in the future.

Hugs
