Omg its boiling out there, trying to find ways to cool the buns & piggies safely, would a basin of cold water for them to sit in help, the runs are covered with roofing, just went in to change their water, its cooking in there, not got enough ice to cool them all. Trying to find pop bottles the kids have used to freeze them. Really cant think what to do, dont have wiring near it to hook up a fan.

Parasol over the run/hutch. Damp cloth over the hutches and runs. Ice cubes in water bowls.

I've been wrapping ice packs like you put in picnic boxes in towels and putting them out.

Think so.

In general I would avoid getting bunnies wet - as far as I'm aware it's a no no, but maybe others could advise in this weather. Mine are indoors in a lovely cool room, so I've not had to worry about this.

They have had a bath before, well floppy needed it, he was stained with pee when we got him, just took him in shower for 5 mins, he seemed to enjoy it, dried him in diningroom, put a damp towel in the twins run for them to lie on, they wont like shower for sure. They been jumping in & out the iced water. Was mostly charlie & floppy I had nothing to put water in that was wide enough for them to sit in. The house is hot so wouldnt be any cooler in here.

I use a damp cloth (duvet case at the moment) over the run - it provides shade and any wind that blows through it will be cooled.

When all the ice bottles melt I spray some water over the tops of the buns ears and then stroke the droplets through onto their backs but not too much water as i dont want it in their ears. they dry out within 10 mins in this heat though!

The fans were getting to hot with the sun, so there back in, the roof is too high to out anything on, mostly cos am a wee shorty, so just wet a bath towel in cold water, ringed it out, its hanging over charlies chair that he sits under so should cool the air a bit, says temps are only 23, feels more like 30.

Stupid weather, has it never heard of a happy medium?!! We are keeping a very close on on Binky and our ther babies and so far they are fine. When we go to bed at night I have a fan on my bedside table so that we can cool down a little.

Hugs

Jo xx
