I'm so fed up
of playing the veg/herb game with Molly and Junior
I've been trying to get to the bottom of the funny coloured wee situation by cutting out the high calcium foods but I keep giving in because they won't eat whatever else I give them. Molly especially turns her nose up at every herb
I keep buying cauliflowers but they're always full of dead flies so they go straight in the bin.
Somebody please help me

Re: I'm so fed up
Don't worry about the wee, just feed them! As long as their poo is fine then there is not too much of a problem. Rabbit wee is always changing colour, it's nothing to worry about.

Re: I'm so fed up
I would have just liked to have been able to figure out what it was, just for peace of mind, but it's driving me up the wall! If I buy one more cauliflower with flies in it I'm not sure what I'll do
Molly is a little monkey!!! She would happily just eat hay at meal times
I might try some new things but be less worried about the calcium.
Thank you.

Re: I'm so fed up
Remember it is the beta carotene in veggies that affect the urine not the calcium.

Re: I'm so fed up
Beta carotene is an antioxident which (in humans) is thought to help prevent cancer and maintain brain function. In the human body it is converted into vitamin A - I don't know what rabbits to with it!

Re: I'm so fed up
Do you feed them Kale or carrots as they can turn the wee orange and of course treats like carrot crunchers can as well.

They do eat kale and carrot tops. It's about all I can get them to eat oh and cauliflower but they're full of ruddy fliesTuckerbunnies wrote:Do you feed them Kale or carrots as they can turn the wee orange and of course treats like carrot crunchers can as well.
I was trying to cut out the kale and carrot tops, just to be sure that's what is doing it but Molly won't eat anything. (I have new found sympathy for my mother ) Junior will at least try things but he doesn't really like any of it.
I had planned to have them on a hay only died for a week to see but then I started using Back To Nature litter and its blue so I couldn't tell what colour their wee is anyway
I'm banging my head against a brick wall!
Thank you

Re: I'm so fed up
Move to Cornwall, land of cauliflower and spring green producers. We don't tolerate flies down here!

Re: I'm so fed up
I wish
Think I'm going to try them with spring greens. I'll no doubt get the usual response from Molly Moo

OMG!! You might be on to something, maybe it is a big scam!!! When I was in Bulgaria, they gave up eating veg and my mum gave them extra fenugreek crunchies so they weren't going hungryRuffin wrote:They are probably adding coulering to the wee to see what else you are going to give them to eat mine would

Re: I'm so fed up
We rarely get flies in our cauliflower - have you tried getting ones from different shops?
Molly and Junior won't mind if a fly has been washed off it, you know

I really wouldn't worry about the wee hunni - I've spoken to JC about it in the past and he said I shouldn't worry about it.

I've looked in sainsburys too but they're never very leafy.Sparky wrote:We rarely get flies in our cauliflower - have you tried getting ones from different shops?

I know they wouldn't likely mind but I can't do it! And they'd been in my fridge so go in the bin in a fit of rage
Thanks, Katie. I'm trying to let it goKatieb wrote:I really wouldn't worry about the wee hunni - I've spoken to JC about it in the past and he said I shouldn't worry about it.

Re: I'm so fed up
Tesco value caulis are often very leafy (Humum found one the other day that had nearly no middle at all and was chuffed to bits ) and we've never found a fly on one...
