Is Fitch good to use? Empty Is Fitch good to use?

So I am after getting a bag of new bedding for Dougals cage, he does not go in it a great deal but when he does the megazrob bits are all over him, the little dust bits and I am sure that it makes him itch. I can not be cetain but thinking that could be what has been bothering him, plus it is way dustier than I remember it being in the past , it does make me sneeze as it did when I used it in gimlis cages but he loved it so much and it never used to stink either.

I have seen past posts about people changing to various dfferent types, I was thinking Fitch as I have read a lot of good stuff about it and a big bag of that would last ages for us.

I use back 2 nature in his litter tray but he has a massive cage and do not want to use the same stuff I use in his litter tray,

Does anyone now use this and do they reccomend and like it?

Have you tried laying some newspaper over the top of the megazorb with a thin layer of hay on top? You can replace the paper and hay when it gets piddled on, any that soaks through will be soaked up by the Megazorb but the Megazorb will stay in the tray Smile

We use megazorb but only in the litter tray.

Mine don't have cages but if they did find prob just used newspaper and a snuggly blankey aim the rest (provided they only wee in the tray)

I didn't like fitch. It bulked out the litter tray too much to be any use so Molly and/or Junior were peeing over the side. I have it away to a friend with guinea pigs.

The one advantage of it is that's it's so ridiculously cheap you can tip the litter tray out several times a day and not worry.

I used to swear by megazorb until it started smelling like cow poop and stinking my house up Rolling Eyes

Truth is I love megazorb too , I just thought it could have been what made him itch and we do onky use it in the cages. I like the backk 2 nature too much for his litter tray  to change that, he never used his tray as well  when we put megazorb in as it was the same stuff lining his cage and he probably thought as it was the same he could wee in that too, as soon as we changed litter he always used the tray and right away, from day 1 he was good but still did it in cage when it was same stuff. I like back to nature for littert tray and he does too and it workd well. They sell it at a good price in our local pet shop too back to nature, I have never thought to ask them about megazrob as normally get that online.

I was just meaning to line his cage as he does not go in a lot as it was stinking but tbh I have not ordered any for ages as a bag lasts us a while as he does not pee or poop on it at all so it stays pretty clean. He still has quarter of a bag f zorb left too.

I was just thinking of Fitch just in case it is why he is itchy but thinkning about it if he had some sort of allergy to it you would see it in his skin wouldnt you? and vet said he looks well and that so will stick to the nmegazorb then, does it still stinkg like cow pat now?

Sounds like I am best sticking to megazorb then if fitch aint that good. Just wanted opinions, was not sure if you had all changed from it.

He doesn't need litter in his cage if he has it in his litter tray - you'd only need it to absorb wee. If he doesn't wee in the cage bit, I'd just get him a couple of fleecy blankets to pop in there (B&M are good for pet blankets).

That is a good idea Amanda, I never thought of doing that, I am just that used to putting megazorb and stuff into cages . I only put it in there as well as he loves pushing it about with his front paws, pushing with his back ones, but he does this mainly when I have cleaned it out and it is funny to watch. He is a nut case at tmes. I thought it would be something he can dig but he has not bortherd much at all for a while to dig at it. Do you think he will like it with the fleecy blankets in, it does sound nice and could be a warm place to cosy in if he needed it. I only have the cage in there as nohwhere to store it and it is wlays best to as if we ever need to put him on it for any reason, is it always there.

I have not tried fleecy blankets as Bubbles chews everything in the litter hutch apart.
They have found a cotton blanket and claimed it straight away.
Now to be called the wholes blanket

I just need them to build a B&M in this small useless town, if any of my family go bburn way or anything I will swing by a B&M with them or maybe our local pound store has some in, could do.
