I'm at my breaking point...
Yep, you guessed it, Willow's incontinence is back
The anti-biotics don't appear to be doing anything this week. She's supposed to be finishing them for her week off tomorrow and they've done absolutely zilch this time around...
It's bad. I think spring fever/territorial behaviour isn't helping as she's been fur pulling and chasing Mo a lot lately, but I just give up. It's exhausting.

Re: I'm at my breaking point...
Oh Sweet,
I'm so sorry.
But then why should bunnies be so different to other mammals ie hoomins.
We build resistance to antibiotics and things spiral out of control.
Not that this is any help or comfort to you
Have you considered a plan B?
I know you are worried sick and if there is anything I can help with even being the taxi for vet visits please let me know.
Send you vibes off all kinds to deal with also sorts and love and cuddles and even nose rubs.

Re: I'm at my breaking point...
I am so sorry to hear this. I know how exhausting poorly and problematic bunnies can be.
A different thought on the incontinence from me. When Herbie went to the vets for the very last time I mentioned that he had been weeing where he was sitting. The vet did suggest arthritis in his spine as being a probable cause as an alternative to UTI's. I wonder if this may be worth mentioning to your vet if it has not been considered.
Huge hugs coming your way, I do feel for you xxx

That's a really good idea from sixes hunni. You could also try asking for a different abx.
I do understand how you are feeling. Having a poorly bun is very hard and very stressful, so I'm sending you a big hug xxx

Re: I'm at my breaking point...
Thank you guys for all of your kind words and support
I will mention both to my vet but I think the bottom line is that it's decision time. I need to get her booked in for her spay which I am absolutely dreading, I was really hoping the antibiotics would mean we could hold off on that but the vet did warn me that this might happen
She's not unhappy in any way. She was binkying around the garden like a loon earlier
Her tummy is quite upset from the meds (I'm assuming), and since they're not doing anything do you think there is any point on carrying on with them guys?

Re: I'm at my breaking point...
I think all the abx were ever doing was buying you / her some time, and I'm sorry that wasn't as long as you hoped for. If she was one of us, Humum would definitely be taking the risk of the spay now, but only after being sure the vet had researched the safest and easiest-to-reverse method of anaesthesia.
I can imagine you are in knots over it though. Loads of vibes for Willow and hugs for you

Re: I'm at my breaking point...
Thank you Sparky
I think I'm going to try the spay. At this point it's a "nothing to lose" situation, as harsh as that sounds...
I will ask my vet about other methods of anesthesia when I book her in. It won't be until next month as I'll need to wait until I have the funds for it, but so long as she's happy I'm happy to clear up after her for the few weeks until then...
I'm dreading it

If your vet is at all unsure, I know that john takes remote consultations from vets and I'm sure will be happy to advise your vets on the other types available xxxx

Katie is right about John - he was very quick to offer support to my vet when we were unsure what to do with Flo's feet.
As for the abx and tummy issues - are you giving probiotics with them? They can really make a difference in preventing the side effects.

I'm so sorry Willow is no better, I have had a couple of incontinent buns and of course Helen is and Baby Saint was and so I know it's not easy and can be hard work but don't give up like Sixer said it could be arthritis we went through this with Grace she already had arthritis as she was getting on but she was clean with it and then she started to be incontinent and we took her to the vet's and she had arthritis in her spine.

Re: I'm at my breaking point...
I think I'm definitely going to query the arthritis/other avenues before booking her in for a spay, if for no other reason than being selfish on my part. I'm dreading it and anything else we could try first I'd happily accept.
Cheryl, she's off the antibiotics now. They were doing absolutely nothing anymore and I don't see the point in pumping her full of meds with no benefit.

Re: I'm at my breaking point...
We're both not too brilliant actually Jo!
I think I have a chest infection (off to the docs tomorrow) and Willow's incontinence is pretty bad. She's in no way suffering, it's just a lot of clearing up to do throughout the day.
I'm hoping to get her booked in for the spay when I'm on Easter break so that I'll be at home to look after her afterwards. That's quite a few more weeks away but as long as she's not suffering I'd rather wait and know I'll be able to look after her every need after the surgery.
