Hi everyone after advice on  bonding, im in a situation ill go on to explain where by im sort of left with no option tthan to split two existing bonded bunny pair to make two new ones.....ok so I currently have two bonded pairs living apart indoors, they are all male to female bonds.  Anyway,  the plan was always once the weather grows mild one pair would live outside permanently in a big hutch and run combo and one pair indoors with access to a run in the day when its nicer. Having 4 buns indoors living seperate with adequate space is difficult and was never a permanent solution.  Anyway I have ended up with oakey, the female out of the lounge pair, now has health issues that mean she cant be an outside bun permanantly.......out of the kitchen pair, istvan, the male bun now has health issues that mean he cant go outside permanantly.  At this point im going arrrggghhhh!!!!. So that one out of each pair unable to live outside.
To complicate things even further the male, ollie, out of the lounge pair could really benefit from constant grass access due to bad back teeth (really bad) and bumblebee the female from the kitchen pair is only truly happy when outside, last summer she was binkying in her run and loving life she doesnt suit being a kitchen bun and never binkys. ... so my only option though I feel awful is to swap the pairs and pair one kitchen bun with one lounge bun then as originally planned one pair can live outside and one inside. I have lots two drop pin type pens so I can cobble two temporary pens in two different places for each new pair to bond,  im apprehensive to start by splitting up pairs so they are alone as they have been in pairs but then im sure just chucking them together in their prospective pairs isnt the best either so any tips and pointers would be brill. I should probably also mention that at no point can  they be a foursome as the two female buns have long continued grudges and would kill each other on sight. Tia guys xx

Wow, I have got nu suggestion on top of my head, but will certainly watch the space.
However I admire you for your recognition of their needs and send hugs, not sure how helpful these might be!?!?!

only thing i would say is will the two buns with health issues tolerate being unbonded and re bonded as some buns find it quite stressful. Also i would say there is not guarantee that the buns you are splitting will bond with the bunnies you want to put them with, and would it be fair to go through all that to put them back together after all?

Other than that i can understand your reasons for wanting to, its a tricky one.

On the other hand you won't know without trying.
What is worse case scenario? What's the best?
What recourses are available?
Aiming for the best "possible" option is all we can do. That may include rethinking, rearranging, reflecting, and so on. But this is the process of development and bunnies are brilliant in developing! Very Happy Hugs Happy Dance

Goodness, this is a tricky one. I can totally understand the logic between switching partners but actually doing it is not to be undertaken lightly.

How long have the pairs been together as they are now? Can I also ask what the health issues are that means Oakley and Istvan cannot be outside all the time?
