What is meant by bunted teeth? Answer pg 2.

Found the most adorable broken black otter Holland lop.  The ad says 'bunted' teeth. Any ideas?

Nope no idea here either. Sounds expensive though.

Never heard of it eith, searched in books and on the web. Nothing really found.
Bunting is some fabric neatly in a row. Maybe it's a bunny with braces to straighten the teeth?
Give them a call and find out and than share with us please!?,

Nope, don't know here either   Could only think it is is a typo, but that doesn't seem to make sense either. Blunted????? Burred??????

I have no idea but am curious to know, so please keep us updated.

I would ring and ask them huni, it is odd, I cannot find anything either.

Bunted teeth: When the front upper and lower teeth meet exactly. It isn't as bad as malocclusion and is usually managed by giving the bunny lots of things to chew. The bunny in question was keeping hers worn down with chewing but not perfectly even enough to show. This bunny was already adopted.    The breeder has several litters of 8 week old Holland lop bucks for sale. If there is one left over we will adopt it. The alternative is something I don't want to think about.

Note to the new members: The part of the USA I live in rabbits are considered livestock and are bred for meat or to show. Either way they don't have a good life.

Thanks. We know we will find the right bunny soon. I cannot wait. Bunnies are so wonderful. Especially
the norty ones. We just hope that the new one doesn't like to actually EAT the walls like Rory did.

I have never ever in over 30 years of having rabbits heard the word 'bunted' when it comes to rabbit teeth, maloccluded yes but never bunted. What a weird word

The woman I spoke with was a large scale breeder of show rabbits. The rabbit in question was extroidinarily beautiful. At least she was able to keep her teeth worn down and the lady would sell her as a pet. I just don't understand why. These people think if the bunnies are not perfect in every way that they should be used commercially.         

I totally sympathise with your frustration on this subject.

Willow was bred by a show breeder and when I asked why she was on her own in the pet shop they told me that "she'd come from a breeder but didn't meet show standards so they gave her to us"

It's horrible to think of her being taken away from her mum, siblings and everything she'd known, going to a totally uncertain future, just because she wasn't "show quality"

She luckily ended up with me and is utterly spoiled but it could have ended so differently. You'd think they'd have more respect for their animals than to just "dispose" of any excess. And I know the sad reality is a lot of breeders use even harsher methods of disposal

People like these who types sicken me as well. We had a local pet shop where I lived as a child and the owner took on a little puppy. I cannot remember the breed but because she had a white star on her forehead, she was not show quality and was going to be pts. Luckily our friend in the shop took her on but as you say, many aren't so lucky.
