Ice pods Empty Ice pods

Post by Thumper2001 Thu Jul 24, 2014 11:24 pm

Do you guys leave your buns unattended with ice pods? Molly doesn't seem all that bothered by the heat (nothing keeps her down Laughing ) but Junior does not cope well with it at all. He lies down with his head bobbing up and down Sad

I have an ice pod but because they're little delinquents I'm too scared to leave them with it overnight in case the eat it!!

Just made me wonder if anybody else leaves them in overnight?

Have you thought about just filling a big pop bottle with water and freezing it, then at least if he does chew it, your only gonna have a puddle in the morning rather then him eating the plastic and what's in it lol

I leave mine with them but they rarely bothered with them. I mainly use them to cool the air in the playhouse. They do seem to appreciate wet tea towels that have been frozen and laid out though.

Put some ice cubes in their drinking water, or buy some marble tiles for them to lie on better still freeze the tile first. Pop bottles are a good idea. We leave our buns with ice-pods and it's sad they have stopped making them as the cooling mats that are now suppose to be replacing ice pods I've heard rabbits are nibbling the mats though, I'm not surprised  Sad

Yes I've been told so, and Pets at Home don't stock them anymore, you can get the odd one on Amazon or Ebay but they are a lot dearer.

I have made some ice cubes and put them in their water and they have a nice refreshing drink. When it has been there a few hours, I change it again.

If you buy tiles just check the edges on them as sometimes they can be sharp and if they are just sandpaper them down.  Smile

That is a good point Tuckerbunnies love, the edges of tiles can be very sharp.

i have never tried frozen towels , will have to try that one.

I freeze a tile and put it out, he loves tiles, frozen bottles, ice cubes in water, a bit of water on his ears when he is seems too hot and his favourite and best thing he loves are his little cool pads from vet uk, they are brilliant and dougal is on his all the time when it is hot, last year he was never off them. They are 7.99 on vet uk, cheaper than p@h etc but no shock there  Laughing . Although molly and junior may chew them, I have no idea, luckily dougal just grooms his and moves them around where he wants them without chewing them.
