Mr Mo is in a very bad way :( U/D Doing better

Post by FluffSlave on Thu Sep 11, 2014 11:05 am

Mr Mo is in stasis and has been since 3.30 yesterday afternoon. He was refusing to eat or drink, his belly was very noisy and he was hunched over grinding his teeth.

At 12pm the emergency vet came out to our house and gave him pain relief, gut stimulant, relaxant and antibiotic injections to no avail.

He is currently at the vets with Willow on IV fluids and being looked after by the vet nurses but his prognosis is really not good.

The only positive is that they don't think it's a blockage...

Please send some vibes for my boy Sad

Oh no Sad Poor Mr Mo.

I might be wrong but I always thought noisy tummy was a good sign because something was happening in there?! Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Will keep everything crossed for him. Please keep us updated.

Sending massive vibes for Mr Mo.

I know sometimes they can have a rather bad episode of stasis, even desipte all the medication, which takes a few days to get through. Hope he continues nomming Hugs

I am. I've had about three hours sleep and this morning we were feeling like we were going to lose him.

It's still very touch and go, although the prospect of a dental bun isn't great for me either Sad

Will update you when I've spoken to the vet after they've looked his teeth over. Still don't know if we'll be able to bring him home today...

Lots of love and comforts on their way sweets and I have said a prayer for him. Actually, I have said a prayer for all of you because it is so hard for bunny mummies to go through anything like this.

Love and hugs

Re: Mr Mo is in a very bad way :( U/D Doing better

Post by FluffSlave on Thu Sep 11, 2014 9:07 pm

Thank you everyone Hugs

We spoke to the vet about 5pm and she has said she can see nothing wrong with his teeth. We have no idea what has caused this (he had a similar episode a few months ago, although much less severe).

She has been hydrating him all day with IV fluids and she has also given him a big dose of pain relief. She says she's done all she can do really and felt he was better off coming home to a familiar environment where he is less stressed.

So we went and collected him at about 5.30 and ever since he is doing quite well! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I left him for a few hours to settle and at about 7pm I decided to see if he wanted to go in the garden as he loves it so much out there and also wanted him on grass to encourage him to eat. He didn't need asking twice and bounced out as soon as I opened the back door. He had a good munch of the grass and seemed very active and alert - all good signs!

They came back in about 45 mins later where he has been nibbling away at hay, Readigrass and even a bit of Mini Shredded Wheat (which he wouldn't touch even earlier this evening). I've also seen him poop since which is great although they're really not good poops, but at least something is coming out of that end! Laughing

I don't want to say we're out of the woods just yet but he is looking much better than he did 24 hours ago and he is eating for himself which is great news considering how things were looking just this morning.

I will keep you all posted on his progress, thank you so much for your vibes and support everyone Hugs

Post by FluffSlave on Fri Sep 12, 2014 7:42 pm

Thank you guys Hugs

Mo was his usual self when I went in to give him breakfast and is now producing normal looking poops again and has a healthy appetite. He is currently mooching around the garden with Willow as we speak Very Happy

I spoke to the vet this morning and she doesn't feel she needs to see him again but wants him on a course of Baytril for five days, just in case. That'll be fun (I currently have it soaking into Mini Shredded Wheat - fingers crossed!). She can't say why he's done it and says sometimes you do get buns whose digestive systems sort of 'shut down' for no reason and he might be one of those. A scary and expensive habit however!!

The main thing is though that he is pretty much 100% back to normal Very Happy

It must be the vibes. Thank you guys xxx

Thank you all Hugs

I'm pleased to report Mr Mo is 100% again and better than ever. I just went in for a late night cuddle (with Willow, he'd never allow such a thing!!) and he sat there watching us and happily munching away on his Blackcurrant and Birch leaves with plantain Very Happy
