Im really worried about Daisy

Post by KatieB on Sat Nov 08, 2014 5:32 pm

He stopped eating his nuggies on weds, and slowly since then his eating slowed down. He was in Johns overnight on Thursday so that John could cheek him out on Friday.

John was worried about weight and did a full set of X-rays and bloods. The bloods are not back yet but found that the walls of daisy's heart were very thin but not an immediate threat.

We don't know why he isn't eating though - teeth and Jaw all fine and his abscess hasn't gotten any bigger.

I brought him home last night and his eating has just gotten worse and worse. He won't eat anything. I am syringe feeding him and small tiny tiny poos are coming out - so I know his tummy is working - but he just isn't eating and he feels all skin and bones.

John asked me to text him in the morning and let him know how he is. He is on metacam and baytril (as always) and now some emiprid too, in the hope it will help his tum.

Please can we have some positive vibes for my little lad - Im so worried about him.

K

Oh Katie, I am sorry to read this Sad On one hand you don't want the blood tests to show anything untoward but on the other it is good to know what you are dealing with. Sending loads of vibes for you both - between you and John, Katie I know Daisy will receive the best possible care xx

We don't have fireworks out here as to much live stock is around, god thanks for that. Just wondered whether you considered pet remedy spray or diffuser? I have only good feed back for this product so far. Got a bottle at the convention for my vet and they love it too!

Poor Daisy B. I hope that he picks up. He can be a bit of a nervy nethy so might just need a day or two to get over whatever is bothering him. Hope it is nothing to worry about. xx

He's nibbling a very small amount but not as much as he needs.

I am still suringe feeding him and tonight changed it to half critical care and half mashed nuggies as I want him to maintain what weight he has left. Is that the right thing to do so you think.

All the vibes that I can master for this gorgeous boy and yourself. I remember my vet told me once if bunnies need to gain weight small portions of good quality baby food can be given. It can be mixed with any syrine feed and will enhance the taste Of them. Don't know what he means with small portion though.
Hope Daisy is picking up and you are not to stressed with feeding him. Hugs Hugs Hugs

Perhaps ask Maysie? Shw ppstes something on fb recently about syringe feeding. I think they also mix some of the Ellas Kitchen baby food in, as Claudia mentioned. I honestly can't remember if cc is better for weight gain or a mix of that with pellets. I think getting him to eat on his own is obviously the main thing, putting the weight back on is going to be a slow process, as you want it to be muscle mass rather than fat. How's he doing? Do you have any idea where the pain may be coming from. I didn't realise how much Daisy had going on. I knew he was a dental bun, but had no idea he had an abscess too, and his heart wall being thin must be another worry. Bless him. How's he doing this morning?

Re: Im really worried about Daisy

Post by KatieB on Tue Nov 11, 2014 9:41 am

Hey Guys

Daisy was a lot brighter yesterday. He even managed a little pinky last night ...yayyyyyyyy

John suggested i bring him up for a check up but I chatted to him over the phone and we decided that the drive may do more harm than good.

I have stopped critical caring him this morning as he is nibbling a bit more by himself, but did syringe him some nuggies in an effort to give him a little boost. He seems quite bright today in himself and has managed some herbs and some pear leaves as well as a pile of his beloved plantain and some dried raspberry leaves.

I have no idea what can be hurting him, his symptoms are the same as teeth but john has given them a thorough check and there is nothing.

He has had an abscess for almost 5 years Sophia. It started when he was about 18 months old and he stopped eating. I took him to our local vet who said he had a spur and that they would remove the tooth. Not knowing anything really about buns at the time I was guided by the vet and agreed. When I went to collect him they said that they couldn't get the tooth out but had "tried". 3 weeks later he stopped eating again and I took him back about 7 times to be told there was nothing wrong with him, until eventually i was referred John. John had a look at found that he had an abscess in his jaw..... and although i cannot prove it I am convinced that this is where the vets tried to remove his little tooth. Bunch of absolute B*******

It was then that I came across HH.

Daisy is unfortunately allergic to abx apart from Baytril, so he has been on Baytril and Metacam ever since. We have never been able to get rid of the abscess, only keep it under control really, but its always a worry.

He's such a trooper for a little guy though and most of the time you would never think there was anything wrong with him. I certainly never thought he would see six!!

I am so glad he did a Binky hun, or " Pinky" as you said Laughing Wink .

I am just happy he is bouncing back and for you too. I know it must be such a huge worry. He is such a little trooper indeed, he does so well considering, and that is because he has sauch a good hoomin mummy who is lovely and takes good care of him.

I bet you want to beat the vets up that caused those abcess problems to being with , poor Daisy.

More vibes of healing coming his way and hugs to you.
