Rosie at the vets Empty Rosie at the vets

Rosie is currently not a happy bunny, she is having not such a grand day out of the vets Sad

She was fine at half ten last night but this morning was huddled in the straw box sitting in her wee. With having to go to work later it was not an option to metacam her and then wait and see. Especially as this behaviour has generally been down to her teeth in the past. It must be 18 months since her last dental. So off to the vets we went - a fraught expedition as my chosen route is closed off by roadworks and the diversion takes you well out of your way.

Caroline couldn't find much amiss apart from some hooks on her molars which have duly been sorted out. If I wasn't going to go to work I think I would have not gone back home. It was a round trip of one and three quarter hours. I am to repeat this later to pick her up pale pale pale as Rosie doesn't do well at the vets.

Can I have some vibes that there is no traffic on the roads later and that Rosie is fine once I get her back home. It always amazes me that bunnies can be absolutely fine one minute and then utterly miserable the next. There is no inkling with Rosie that she is starting to suffer with her teeth.

How's she doing now?
Teeth can be real problems, in more ways than one, but we would all rather have to suffer the effects of chewing and chiselling than see the misery caused by spurs etc..
Hope she snug at home now and you're not getting too much cold shoulder treatment.

Mega vibes for Rosie and no traffic for you, especially when having to take such a big detour.

I know what you mean hun, our Dougal was great up until that horrible day he went to the vets. It is so worrying when they are fine then suddenly something is clearly wrong. I am glad the vet did not find anything sinister and that she will be fine she gets home with you.

Well it took me two hours from leaving work to get to the vets and get Rosie back home Sad

She seemed reasonably bright when I got her back and after I dosed her with some meds I put her back with BJ in a penned off area of their shed along with a heat pad and loads of straw. I did see her nibbling at hay which was reassuring. However when I went to check on her an hour later she was sat looking miserable and was cold and BJ wanted nothing to do with her.

I agonised then as she absolutely hates being brought indoors and becomes very stressed. It seemed the lesser of the two evils so in she came and I left her in the kitchen in a litter tray with heat pads under the newspaper and hay along with assorted dried food favourites. She did warm up but wasn't for eating anything and was obviously stressed by being in the kitchen.

As leaving her to sit and shake all night in the kitchen was not a good idea I syringe fed her and dosed her up with some metacam and took her back out along with all three heat pads. As soon as she got back to the shed she stamped at me, then went straight to the food bowl   Rolling Eyes  Much relieved I left her and BJ to their supper and to snuggle down together.

This morning she was back to normal and made it quite clear that there was no way she was going to have any more medicine Hmmm I dread the day Rosie may need lots of hands on care because she is simply not a hands on bunny.

Thank you all for your vibes, I am sure they helped.

Oh bless her! I'm glad she's peeked up now. It can be so much more stressful when they aren't keen on fuss, knowing what to do for the best can be even harder, I find.

more vibes that she continues nomming and being a tinker.
