Seriously, they look very relaxed and happy together and do make a striking couple.
All seems good this morning - both buns out early and appeared to be having fun together in the run. No signs of trouble in the hutch or with the buns! I think we may of cracked it!
Dotty does still run from Seb at times when he wants to get close, but I guess this will improve over the weeks???? Also need to remember that Dotty, in general, is still a little jumpy and does not have Seb's confidence - But we are working on it. She is still not that keen on humans, but at least she likes Seb, and Seb likes us x

Re: Seb's World..
Well done!
You are right it is likely that she will copy Seb to some extend and give her time to get to know you. Do you know anything of her past?

Re: Seb's World..
Fantastic news, am absolutely thrilled for you all
My Rosie is a 'you can look but not touch' bunny. She is eight now so is unlikely to change. However, she makes BJ happy, and that makes me happy. Watching bunnies interacting always gives me pleasure

Re: Seb's World..
That's great news. It takes a while to see the super relaxed behaviours but isn't that the same in any relationship? When I was down at Maria's rescue yesterday all the buns were out in the sun grooming each other. It was great to see.

Re: Seb's World..
Thanks Everyone!! I have seen more grooming from Dotty and Seb seems really happy. I think they make a wonderful couple and it's been fab watching them interact with each other. Over time, I cannot wait to see them become more relaxed with each other.

Re: Seb's World..
Seb and Dotty continue to snuggly happily together. The only little thing that's cropped up so far, is that Dotty has a different idea to Seb as to where the toilet is!
Seb has always used his litter tray in the hutch, so nice and easy to stay clean and fresh. He has never littered in the run. Dotty however, does not use the litter tray and has picked a corner of the run for all her waste products.
I tend to clear away the poo's twice a day, but its the wee that's becoming an issue. It smells fairly strong and has killed off a patch of grass. I don't want this corner attracting flies. I've tried putting a litter tray in the corner with some of Dotty's poo's and wee, but she just opts to toilet just in front of it, creating another piddle patch Don't know how to make sure this area remains clean and fresh!!

Re: Seb's World..
Ok?! She knows where the corner is but Peebles next to the tray. What litter do you use? Is it the same they used in the rescue you got her from. If it is not familiar they may not want to use it.
Persist maybe she will learn from Seb they usually copy the other.
Hope she finds toilet manners pronto.

Re: Seb's World..
I think that you should persist with the tray... nice layer of hay on top and keep putting her poos into it. If you can soak up some of the wee on a tissue, put that in there too.

Re: Seb's World..
No further forward with Dotty and the litter tray!
Today, I noticed a few small flies hanging round the corner where Dotty goes and I went into panic mode! I covered the corner with fresh soil over the piddle patch. I've over-used a nice smelling disinfectant all over the wooden frame of the run and over the concrete that surrounds it! I've place Dotty's clean litter tray over the new soil to make the corner good again. No flies now! Her tray has a nice layer of hay on top to try and win her over. Hmmmm...
Whilst turning my attention to cleaning the hutch, I noticed Dotty in the corner of the run pooping right next to the litter tray! AArrgghhh!! Lets hope she gets it soon! Those flies today did worry me.
We keep their hutch so clean and make sure everything is fresh and dry. We always use good petsafe disinfectant to make sure it smells clean. I don't want any fly strike issues because of the run.
I wondered if I got a flat gardening type tray and put in her corner weather she would use that?? I need something to keep everything hygienic!

Re: Seb's World..
The gardening tray might be worth a go...
I don't know how high your litter tray is but it might be a bit tall. I know Mr Mo finds it a bit of a leap into theirs (although he is a good boy and uses it always).

Re: Seb's World..
Oh, yes, flies.
Time to get the Rearguard in stock!
Would Dotty be tempted to use the tray if you put it in a box. You know, make a box into a house to cover the tray. It can often work if a rabbit has been used to hutch life.

Re: Seb's World..
Thought I would try something else for her today. I got a cat litter tray and cut out a section at the front, making it low, easy access. Lined it with paper, litter and a good layer of Dotty's favourite hay. I did actually see her sit in it..... it was only briefly.. but she sat in it! Lets hope this is the beginning of progress!
If this fails, then I shall try a box over the litter tray as suggested by woodwench x

Re: Seb's World..
I suggested the box over the tray as I thought it might give her a little confidence boost. Being safe from prying eyes while she does her business (with some yummy hay to help things along) might be just what the vet ordered. To sit in a tray in the open pen might make her nervous and feel vulnerable if she isn't completely used to having all that space; the box could act like a safety blanket.

sounds good to me woodwench! Its my next move if Dotty still doesn't like the tray!

Re: Seb's World..
not sure... there is evidence of a wee and some poo's in the tray..... but I have a feeling that Seb may of been responsible! I cannot be sure though and I'd love to think its Dotty making progress (it would be a first for her). There were still poo's all round the area of the tray which is definitely Dotty doing! I keep putting the poo's in the tray... will see how it goes the next few weeks!
