Rescues and neutering

I was just curious about how rescues can tell if rabbits have been neutered when they get brought in? Obviously with boys this would be more obvious (although I hear if they're stressed the testicles can be well hidden?!)! But with females especially, are there certain scars to look for, or would a vet be able to feel the abdomen and tell if they'd been done?

There's absolutely no reason for me to need to know this, I'm just curious!

At work, any female animals that are brought in to rescue, and whos owners/rescue centres arent sure if they are neutered or not, we clip them and look for the scar.

No doubt an ultrasound could give a definitive answer, but this is obviously more expensive for the client.

Are spay scars a significant size and does the incision site vary much? I know with castration different vets go in at different places, but I'd assume spay sites are probably more similar?

Of all the places ive known, in bunnies its midline incision on the abdomen. Never seen anything else in buns. Male buns isnt an issue, as they have no testicles. Cant say the scar will vary too much in location, but neater jobs scar less in my experience. A trained eye should see/feel it though.
