The New Animal Room Setup
As some of you know, the chins and buns had to share a room, but this wasn't working particularly well as it was a major faff to let the chins have some exercise, and Mojo was demolishing the barrier and breaking through a lot
The chins temporarily moved into my room whilst we worked something out, and this is what we came up with a spent the weekend building...
They now both have their own space, and they have a wooden barrier running along the bottom so they can't get at each other through the bars.
Success at last!

Fantastic, how did you do the diversion? Just in case if my bonding fails?
Well done you and hope they appreciate it!

Re: The New Animal Room Setup
Thanks guys
I think they are enjoying it. I feel like Mojo likes the 'fenced in' feeling as it gives him security. Willow keeps jumping up at the door and slowly dragging her paws down it whilst giving me the sorrowful, 'I'm trapped' face. She gets plenty of time to mooch out of it though - she's just being dramatic And the chins are loving having 24/7 free-range time!
Claudia, we just bought aviary panels from Ebay. They came in panels of 3ft high, so we had to first attach two vertically to make them tall enough (drilled a hole then put screws in with the electric screwdriver). We then screwed them all together side-by-side bar the door which was hinged on, added a corner for stability and voila! We have had to put the run on the one side though - it's pretty stable but want to be 100% sure it's not going to go over if a chin decided to ricochet off the walls

Re: The New Animal Room Setup
Yes, I didn't want either the rabbits or chinchillas scaling over the top
Our chinchillas taught us not to underestimate their athletic abilities. We once built them a 3ft high open-top run, thinking we'd done a fantastic job we let them in to try it out. I am not lying when I say 2 MINUTES LATER, Cheefa had bounced over the top effortlessly

Re: The New Animal Room Setup
So did Vernon on more than one occasion. A puppy pen that I could only get in or over with difficulties up to my hip, I'm 180 cm and he jumped it from sitting position, just like that
It is the Belgian hare that bread into him I apologise?

Claudia - Cheefa is a chinchilla. But Willow is a Beveran and Mojo is an Angora (we think!).

Re: The New Animal Room Setup
Yayyy! Well done. Fingers crossed, this keeps everybun happy!
Is it not possibly to attach the divider to the wall using some sort of wall plug? If you want to redecorate later its quite easy to fill in, sand and paint over.
Im sure its fine, youre not daft, id just be worried about any movement with it being so tall. ...but i obsess over stuff like that! I really like it

Re: The New Animal Room Setup
Thanks all
They seem to be enjoying it. Mojo has definitely come out of his shell a lot since having it up. I think he feels much more secure in a 'smaller' space, with lots of places to hide under as well
