Molly - syringe feeding help please
There was an unfortunate incident earlier. I suspected the root problem was a sore paw but she's darted out of the litter tray a few times, moving fine, so I'm wondering if she's perhaps sulking.
I cannot get to a vet tonight (she always does this when my OH is offshore ) so I've dug out my feeding syringe in case she's still not eating when I go to bed.
I'm intending making up some pellets mashed in water.
If I have to give her this, how many hours can I leave her before I have to check on her again?
Not that I'm going to sleep anyway

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
When I was syringe feeding Soundwave I was told of the nurse small amount every 2hours but that was because he was spitting it out when the nurses were giving him large amounts. Sorry it doesn't really help.

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
Has she been eating normally until the incident?
If yes, then I would syringe and leave her with some soaked pellets and some greens/herbs and hay and go to bed as normal.
If she is just sulking... her tummy will soon cure that. If she isn't then a good syringed meal with soften pellets at hand should see her through to morning.

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
She was picky with tea but they both have been the last wee while. The quality of the veg in my local supermarket is terrible! They've been filling up on hay in the evenings. I'm sure I saw her eating - but then I'm thinking, was that yesterday?!woodwench wrote:Has she been eating normally until the incident?

She was certainly more perky. She was unwrapping presents under the tree
Thank you. I'm away to try a wee bit now just in case she puts up a huge fight. Which she prob will!!!

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
I put them up to their room because I thought being up there might make her happier. She ran upstairs no problem.
I just popped my head in and she let out a massive yawn and is now washing. Pretty sure I saw her holding her paw up tho :-/
I'm away to sort out a few things downstairs and then I'll try her with bedtime crunchie. They get it every night without fail so hopefully the routine will kick in and she'll take it.
PLEASE MOLLY!!!

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
How is she this morning?
If she's holding her paw up it might be worth giving the vet a phone.

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
Morning. She's absolutely fine. When I went into their room before I went to bed last night she had a bit of hay poking out of her mouth and was bouncing round the pen looking for her crunchie, like nothing happened!
And she has tucked into breakfast with the usual bouncy enthusiasm!
I think it just looked like she was holding her paw up because she was washing. I'm going up to the vet today anyway to drop stuff off for the SSPCA food bank so I'll mention it, just in case.

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
She was absolutely fine in the morning so I never spoke to the vet. I told the receptionist though and she would have summoned the vet if she thought it necessary.
I'm as certain as I can be that she was just in the huff!

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
That doe has you just where she wants you.... You should have given her that special Christmas present when she asked for it. Making a bunny wait is never a good move.
Your as bad as me, a neurotic bunny mum. I swear when Henry is ailing I do to.
Glad she's okay.

Glad to hear Molly Moo is ok now. So sorry I missed this
A tip if you ever need to syringe feed them is to put a towel over their head, makes them feel a bit safer.

Re: Molly - syringe feeding help please
Jo.... instead of covering the buns head with a bulky towel, a bun sized balaclava (with a mouth hole cut in obviously) might serve?
