Saints preserve uf from this moult....
It's a silver fur storm here...
Henry looks like an old rag rug. I'm continually plucking him in passing .. something that doesn't go unnoticed, or unpunished. I feel I must be the most glowered at bun-mum on the planet!

I share with you on this one too.
Vernon moulting for 3 month
Bubbles for 2 she is lazy so I invested in a trimmer to keep bum and hinds on level 2.
Worth doing

Re: Saints preserve uf from this moult....
I'm worried that Henry will get a hair ball.... he wouldn't survive that. He as lost enough weight already, his appetite is very iffy now. Our time is running out but a fur ball would cut it prematurely short.
So I'm Zooming him, plucking him and taking all the threatening looks.

My two aren't too bad! Well, Junior. Molly doesn't seem to moult!
I always find the summer moult worse than the winter one!

Re: Saints preserve uf from this moult....
Henry seems to take a couple of weeks holiday in winter and another two in late spring the rest of the time moulting is his regular job!
This summer isn't as bad as last though (touch wood). I thought he had finished last week but saw some tatty bits on his shoulders last night.

I get the odd growl if I get too presumptuous with the plucking!

I think not. Unless of course we pulled some fur that was still well attached, then we'd deserve all we got!

Re: Saints preserve uf from this moult....
You might feel so thumper. Al of mine look in disbelief at me if plucking fur.
When in moult I trimm bubbles buttom and hinds just to help her to maintain. Stresses Vernon out who doesn't like noise.
Just can't get it right.lol

Re: Saints preserve uf from this moult....
When I first saw Henry at the rescue he had had his back shaved from neck to loins and no one knew why (he had come to the rescue like it). My guess is that it was to help with his moult as the next year (last Year) he had an horrendous time of it .... and so did I.
This year has been manageable so far and the Zoom Groom is the main reason for that.

Re: Saints preserve uf from this moult....
I have to say the trimmer helps. I even did Vernon backside a few days ago. Just thinking that what I take away won't cause blocks in either of them as they groom constantly.
Bubbles is keen to sluggish tummy. So let's see whether it helps.
It certainly decreases hover time and noise so must be one wining point for that.

I would love a fluffy bunny but a Zoom Groom would be essential. I don't think they existed when I had my really fluffy bunnies.

After the scuffy (for removing pet hair on carpets and furniture) I bought WAAAAAAY back before hoovers cleaned up hair, the Zoom Groom is probably one of my best (and cheapest) purchases I've ever made. With any moulting pet it is great.

Re: Saints preserve uf from this moult....
Its times like this i am particularly glad mine all live outside!
Eyes has a very dense fluffy coat and has quite a skirt at the moment where the moult is working its way down. He is quite tolerant , to a point, of pluckings (not that he has an awful lot of options).
Dillon hasa shorter, less fluffy coat and normally manages his moult quite well, but this time round has a the odd sticky tuft that gets plucked. He tolerates it for a few seconds then starts to bite if you continue! But his nipping was the reason he came to me and it had stopped, just the plucking brings it out in him again lol.
Arte, well she is a law unto herself. she is getting much much braver, and will now actually come up to see me when she is in the hutch, (enclosed space, could get grabbed) and will allow one finger tip to touch her nose before darting off giggling so not much hope of plucking her, but i am keeping an eye on her and she seems to be managing it quite well so far.
i have a grooming mitt/glove thing, and did wonder about the Zoom Grooms and now i know they are as good as they look i will probably invest in one for felines and rabbits.
xx

Yes, freecycle ... they are great but I'd not let the rabbits know it's for the cat as well and vice versa.

Re: Saints preserve uf from this moult....
My first zoom groom is reduced to some extend
Bubbles and D ' Layla had their teeth in it.
Not good for the tool I say.
Bought a new one
But find a grooming comb and the cutter more effective.
Buns be aware!
