Panacur - Lapizole dose question

Post by Faunus on Tue Nov 04, 2008 9:29 am

Can I ask what dose we all give to our buns? I'm not on about the length of time it's given for - we all know that is open to debate.

In the past I have given 0.2ml per kg (I use the 10% panacur liquid rather than the paste). Recently after a trip to the vet we have been given Lapizole but the dose is very different. 0.5ml per 0.5kg.

Just to add to the confusion I had always thought that the concentration of both Lapizole and Panacur were the same but on reading the labels the Panacur 10% has 100mg fenbendazole per ml whereas Lapizole has 20mg per ml

Confused?? I think we should be! Suspect

After further investigation it seems panacur rabbit paste is the same concentration as Lapizole. Embarassed I have just confused myself by using the 10% liquid which is more concentrated.

I only ever use the Panacur 10% Liquid !!
1ml = 1OOmg Fenbendazole
0.1ML = 10mg Fenbendazole

The dose is 20mg Fenbendazole/kg of Bunny so its easy to calculate a dose of 0.2ml/kg

If the Lapizole is 20mg/ml that means that there is 0.2mg Fenbendazole in every 0.1ml. The dose woud be 1ml/kg or as you say, 0.5ml/0.5kg

Hope that makes sense
Hmmm

Thanks Jane cheers

I knew the 1ml/kg couldn't be right in the 10% liquid - we would have needed 14 and a half bottles Shocked No
