Escape from Alcatraz Empty Escape from Alcatraz

Post by NickieM Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:37 pm

As the snow has finally gone cheers cheers I decided that I would make up a little run for Felix so he could stretch his legs as he has been cooped up inside the hutch since the snow arrived last Thursday.

He hopped out straight away and I watched from the kitchen window as Wolfie got very interested in Felix and Felix got very interested in Wolfie. They just sat and stared at each other for ages. Gloria was being a bit of a tart and jumping around binkying, but Wolfie was keeping a steady eye on the newcomer. Which was just as well, because while I was peeling tatties, the little blighter jumped over the fenced and legged it! I looked out and noticed this white blue whizzing around the compound with an extremely irate Wolfie in chase. His wee tail was right up and he was well p1ssed! They stopped and did lots of sniffing and Wolfie tried to nip him but Felix was fascinated rather than aggressive. Gloria came over to see and got a nip on the bum from Wolfie who was not pleased with her earlier behaviour.

Eventually managed to chase Felix back into the run with the aid of some fencing and plonked him in his hutch. What an afternoon. And I think he sprayed in a corner of the compound which has annoyed Wolfie greatly. He was out trying to dig up the whole corner.

So I think the bonding might be put off for a little while now! :lol!:

well that doesn't sound too bad! it is bad if they lock and roll but they didn't so that's good. pirate and jiggy accidentally met (on neutral territory outside) pre bonding and they locked and rolled - and they still bonded fine after that.

I was about to say the same as Rachel, if they just did a little chasing and nipping on unneutral ground the prospect for a full bond on neutral territory looks pretty good....provided Wolfies referred aggression subsides. Smile

Escape from Alcatraz Empty Re: Escape from Alcatraz

They were separated from each other. Felix escaped from his run and was on the outside of Wolfie and Gloria's compound. There is two layers of wire so they couldn't bite each other. Wolfie was very territorial and as Felix is an intact male that is perhaps not surprising. Gloria seemed very frisky and excited but not aggressive. There was lots of noses sniffing and Wolfie did a little lunging with his paws, but it seemed to be more fascination than anything.

This morning Wolfie is patrolling the boundary and Felix is back in his hutch and ain't getting out until I put a roof on the run, but is looking over wistfully. I am hoping when he is neutered, that I can start to introduce them slowly. I had thought to do it one at a time with Felix and wonder whether I should introduce Wolfie first.

Bless Felix, he saw his chance for an impromptu meeting and seized it! sounds as though it was pretty harmonious though, which is a good thing! Oh these bunnies like to keep us on our toes!

Felix now has a roof on his run and has tried to find every little crack to squeeze out but to no avail. They are sat staring at each other. It's a bit like the 37th Parallel in Korea!

Wolfie has manfully patrolled the boundary and chinned everything that isn't nailed down. Gloria is in total tart mode and fluttering around in a very girly way. I have been really surprised by her as I thought she would be really aggressive like she was when we had my friend's escaping bunnies in the summer. I thought she was going to eat Softy! Maybe because Felix is a boy and Softy was a girl!

Sounds like Gloria needs to stop tossing her mane in another boy's direction!

She truly was in major diva mode. She was so funny as she was running about binkying and getting really girly. Then they would both stand and stare at Felix and then she would be off zig zagging and jumping around. It was hilarious.
