Rabbit Harness?
I was just wondering what people thoughts on rabbit harnesses? I haven’t got a run yet so I take Hitler out in the garden on a harness. He doesn’t seem to mind it but I can imagine them being very stressful. My garden is secure but it saves me from running round trying to catch him. I don’t trust harnesses 100% I can imagine them being pretty easy to wiggle or chew out of.
I was wondering what other peoples views on harnesses where?

Re: Rabbit Harness?
Mine go out on harnesses all the time. They cant free range in the garden but do often in the yard. Mine dont mind the harness at all, however I do not leave them unsupervised with the harness on. Im always on the other end of the lead =]

Re: Rabbit Harness?
VERY dangerous, they can break their back when struggling to get out.
We always strongly advise against it!!

Re: Rabbit Harness?
Is it any different to walking a dog on a lead? He's never struggled or been bothered by it. If he had I wouldn't use it. Other than that its the only way he gets to go out at the moment.

Re: Rabbit Harness?
Of course it's different!! you can train a dog, a dog is built completely different and a dog will listen to you. A rabbit won't listen, they don't understand what you mean.
If it doesn't struggle, OK, but believe me, most of them do and the consequences are not very funny.
Why do they sell it then?
Because they sell all useless things for the business, like mineral stones which are poison !
Or wheels for piggies, a piggie is not a hamster, it can break it's back too in such a wheel.
Pet's accessories are big business and not always harmless.

Re: Rabbit Harness?
Birds_will_fly- Iv had all of my 8 rabbits out on harnesses, of course with me supervising and I believe if the rabbit is handled correctly and not afraid of you as a person there is no reason it would struggle to get away from you.
Mine regularly go out on their harnesses and iv never had any problems at all. Just keep a close eye on him and if he becomes destressed for any reason discontinue using it.
I dont see why he would though in all honesty.
Its personal preference at the end of the day. Best of luck =] x

I personally dont like them because it stresses them out and can cause a lot of damage.

Re: Rabbit Harness?
I don't like the use of harnesses for bunnies because a rabbit is a prey animal and harnesses mimmick the way arabbit can be 'taken', I think it stresses them out too much and they aren't comfortable

Re: Rabbit Harness?
Personally I wouldn't, but like all these things, there will be buns who do and buns who don't seem to mind. It would worry me that even the most relaxed-in-a-harness bun is still hugely restricted if it bolts, and they can do that just from hearing a bird.
