Pet Insurance...help!

Post by jai&becki on Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:00 am

I have just got a quote for our 2 lionheads at £22.50 per month... This is with an excess for each condition per year of £65 and only covers up to £2,000 in vets fees. This is with Pet Plan

does this sound expensive to anyone else? Obviously theres no question I will have them insured but I thought it would be a bit cheaper...

Has anyone already done the research and have another company that I can get a quote from? I have 14 days to change my mind...

Thanks!

Hi, I posted this a few months ago for a similar question,
Jay wrote:I did some research into multiple pet insurance for a friend a couple of months ago and couldn't find anything available as an overall cover, but you should be able to negotaite a discount if you use the same co. for all of them.
Pet plan and helpucover seem to be good for the buns.

As we only have the one, we put £20 per month away for him. Luckily for us he hasn't shown any genetic illnesses yet, and we seem to have a fairly healthy bun, but I know how quickly that can change, but we've put away over £700 since we've had him, and spent around £300 of that in 2.5 years, which so far, is a lot less than we'd have spent on insurance.
When/if he gets to 5/6 and a vet will certify him as healthy, we may consider it then, but I'd seek advice on that at the time Smile

You'll find helpucover details here Smile

I have all my rabbits covered with insurance and I am with Pet Plan however my excess is only £50 and I am paying less than £20 a month for a pair. Bob is a British Giant and his wife Ammie is a Lionhead, then I have Dixie and English with her hopefully new husbunny George a Continental Giant. You may wish to ask them to re-quote you.

In my case I am so glad I took the insurance out as Bob broke his leg and my boy Lupin rest his sole has a tumour, so the insurance helpped cover the cost.

Ive just had to check, I pay £32.17 for four buns. I have to agree with Dixie, I would ask for a requote

I pay about £15-£16 for my pair and my excess is £45. Not sure what you meant by excess for each condition, but think you mean for each time you claim. My insurance is with Petplan and is their Covered for Life Plan. I think you should go back and ask for a re-quote because that seems a lot more than mine. My buns were insured as older rabbits so I would have thought they would cost more than your little young buns.
