Bonnie - My Best Friend Empty Bonnie - My Best Friend

Post by SarahJane Wed Feb 03, 2010 11:06 pm

Bonnie was helped to the bridge today at nearly fourteen years old. My heart is breaking, but i want to celebrate her with you, as she lived much much older than anyone ever thought she would, given her breed and health problems. So today, please smile and think of Bonnie, dont be sad on my behalf.
(its long i know, and im sorry for that!)
Bonnie 10th June 1996 - 3rd February 2010

Bonnie, what can i say about you? My mum offered to look after a dog who belonged to my little brothers friend, they were not sure if they wanted you anymore, so mum offered to look after you for a bit, so they could decide. After a month, they decided they didnt want you. I begged my mum and dad to let me keep you, saying i would love you forever, and that you wanted to be with me.

You were there on every camping holiday, picnic. In year six we had to make a life story of ourselves, and half my book was about you. I adored the ground that you walked on.

You and Ceasar, our eight year old collie cross became friends instantly, he loved you. you loved him.
Bonnie - My Best Friend Bonnieandceasar
Bonnie - My Best Friend 2010-02-03_20 I loved him too. and when he passed to the bridge when i was 14 i was devastated. But you kept me together.

Bonnie - My Best Friend 2010-02-03_2 I used to pretend you were a show dog, but weirdly you loved it, you loved jumping through the home made hoop, and doing little jumps!

even as a teenager, you were my world. Whenever a boy made me cry, or my friends were being nasty, i came home and i cuddled you. You kept me together.

Bonnie - My Best Friend Closeup-4
even at 18, you were my everything.

Bonnie - My Best Friend Bonnierocky-3 Rocky came along when i was 15/16 and you didnt like him much! Too boisterous for you, you always put him in his place. deep down you loved him though.

I love You Bonnie. so much. Go find Ceasar and sleep eternally at the bridge forever. Wait for me my darling. I adore you. You made me the person i am, youre the reason i love animals so much. You did this. I am scared you are no longer there to cuddle, my constant, always there. You are not there to help me through anymore. I hope i never let you down my sweet darling.

Please never forget me.

I'm so sorry to read this SJ, none of us can be in any doubt about your love and care for Bonnie. She's been with you for a huge part of your life, and I think she was the luckiest dog in the world to have that.
You've written a lovely tribute, she'll always be with you, and one day you'll be able to remember her with fondness, not sadness.

I'm sure she'll be looking after them all at the bridge, and being the reason that you love animals so much, she has changed you for ever, that's an amazing thing to have done, she was clearly an exceptional dog. Hugs x

Post by SarahJane Thu Feb 04, 2010 11:06 am

thank you everyone. i have never felt a loss like this before. even with peanut, this just feels so entirely different. i couldnt sleep last night because she wasnt on the end of my bed. Everytime i pulled the blanket it just came up, where as before it wouldnt because of the little dog on the end. i ended up getting rocky (and in a single bed that is not fun!) he was sad, so he slept on my bed last night.

I cant believe she has gone. nearly fourteen years for a cavalier is incredible, and one with her health problems its amazing.

What a beautiful tribute!

It seems that you gave her a wonderful, long and fulfilling life, and she repaid you with abundance.

I am sorry to hear that she is gone but she has obviously left you with many happy memories.

Sleep tight Bonnie.

So so sorry to hear about your loss. You made a very nice tribute.

I'm still new here, but as what i can see, you gave her the best life she could have.
It's so hard to think of the good memories at a time like this. But they will come back...
They did for me... Hang in there, my thought are with you.

Post by SarahJane Thu Feb 03, 2011 11:56 am

Oh Bonnie, It's been a year today since you left my side, and I miss you so so much. I can't forget it, it was literally a year ago to this very minute. And I remember wishing I could jump forward in time a year so the pain wouldnt be so huge, but it still is. Maybe its worse in a sense because not only does it hurt so much, I also miss you so much more now.

Nobody will ever replace you. It's times like this when I think I am kidding myself hoping to give a home to a dog, when nothing will ever compare to you. You were my whole life, and nothing has been right since you left.

I hate that I'm not at home and I can't sit by your flowers, I feel so far away from you.

My heart aches for you, I just want to see you curled up on the end of my bed, hear your collar jingling as you scratch like a maniac on the floor, hear you do a tiny growl if Rocky got too many cuddles, and see you grumpy little face if we woke you up.

I love you so much

Post by SarahJane Thu Feb 03, 2011 3:10 pm

Me neither. It seems very surreal. I feel so upset inside but I am trying not to be, because I cant break down every time I miss her, or I would never get anything done.

I just miss her so much, I miss doing "our things", walking and just being together. I adore Rocky and I love him SO much, but he loves me, my brother, my dad, and thats great, but Bonnie just adored me and she needed me, and i miss that.

When I was a child I used to love reading and I remember making a little picnic, and taking it to the top of the garden and sitting there with my cheese sandwiches and my famous five book and Bonnie next to me. and I just felt so happy. Me and Bonnie just fit together like a hand to a glove and that's just the way it was.

Maybe I will find it again one day, it wont be the same but equally as special.
