Algae In Water Bottle
Is there anyway to stop algae forming in a rabbits water bottle? Mine get algae but I clean them up i'm just wondering if there is anyway that it can stop from being formed.

Oh I really have no idea.
I clean my two's water bowl out every day and don't seem to have a problem. Where do you keep your water bottle? Is it close to other algae?
Hopefully an expert will come along soon to help. Good luck

No it just forms, particularly the non coloured bottles get it a lot quicker than the others do

You cannot prevent it, it's a natural process.
I clean them with gravel from the garden, works wonders. If you have small bottles you can use aquarium gravel

Re: Algae In Water Bottle
Some people use rice grains shaken inside to clear it off but personally I use Milton and a couple of differently sized bottle brushes. The main reason it forms is contact with sunlight, so a bottle cover can help by cutting the light off (an old, dark sock will work fine) but it will still need cleaning anyway.

warning if you use rice : DON'T pour it down your sink, it clogs and forms a severe blockage

I hope you don't mind that I had a little chuckle at this.

No, I don't mind, but my husband thought it was not funny when it happened
