Lani's broken nail
She seems to have snapped it, she's limping a little and blood has gathered at the base of the nail. The nail itself is still there but all bent out of shape.
I tried the vets for an appointment, but thier system is down so I cant make one!
Any suggestions what I can do to help her in the meantime?

Re: Lani's broken nail
poor Lani
If it's still bleeding you can put the foot or bleeding area in a bowl of cornflour and this will stem the bleeding. Sudocrem is safe for buns, this may help prevent any infection, it's usually used for sore hocks, but may help with this?
Not sure whether you should cover it or not, hope someone else can help with that. Vibes for you girl.

Re: Lani's broken nail
Thanks Jay, Ill put some sudocrem on.
It isn't bleeding at the moment, but if it starts at least I know what I can do.
I don't want to bandage it or anything due to the nail sticking out at a funny angle - I don't want to displace the nail anymore than it already is!
She's limping so I really hope the vets get sorted soon...

Re: Lani's broken nail
Been to the vets, she's had her nail trimmed (And the vet did the others while we were there, for free, which is great...), and an antibiotic shot.
I haveta bathe it in warm salt water but hopefully it should clear up soon and she'll be fine.
Shes not limping now shes back from the vets so it certainly seems to be getting better already!
