Litter training woes :(
Zelda keeps peeing on the carpet when she's having free range time. It's always at a different time (sometimes it's after she's been out for an hour, today she'd been out 5 minutes) always in a different spot, though i spray the areas with vinegar just to be sure. I'm just not sure what to do! She's ok in the cage, not perfect by any means but i don't mind if she pees in there. I've considered reducing the free range time right down, then gradually increasing it, but that seems unfair on hecs, who is used to at least 4 hours of free range time

I am so sorry to hear this love but I have never experienced that problem so I don't know what to say to you. Lots of no peeing on carpets vibes on their way and I hope someone comes up with a solution for you.

You're right, reduce the space. It is only short term, Hector will forgive you.

yep make the pen smaller and gradually increase space. Adding in another toilet may help her too.

Re: Litter training woes :(
I agree with the others.
Willow has always been a pain for this. It is the biggest reason we got Mr Mo - so we could move her out of the bedroom because it was getting really wearing. She'll never be perfect but that's because she's not spayed, so it's to be expected. Fingers crossed this works for you and Zelda. I do sympathise

No They've only been having a space about a foot wide, by a few feet long (two sides of the cage, i made it bigger but didn't consider where the door would be so it's facing the wall at the moment) she was fine on wednesday night, but peed twice last night.

We had wondered if it's hormonal, she's spayed but was only a week before we got her (i think!) so I'm guessing there's still some residual hormones floating around? I don't know! She's having a bladder ultrasound and possible having some urine taken to check everything is ok

I wonder .. can she smell wildies? I found most of my houserabbits, does and bucks, though neutered, would do some scent peeing at this time of year and I know they could scent wildies through open windows.

Hmm could be possible, they're still at my boyfriends (I'm staying as well) and his flat is next to a park, they're on the other side of the flat from it though

Re: Litter training woes :(
How big is the litter tray? I would advise making it as big as possible. I find flo and Bruce pee in slightly different spots so the need enough room to both fit in. Multiple trays may also be an answer. If she always goes in the same spot when out put a litter tray on it. Once she is consistently using it then begin to move it to where you want it. Don't clean litter trays too thoroughly at the moment as she will need the scent to know where to go.

I've done all that, they have two trays, that are approx 2ftx1ft, can't put a tray outside of the cage because she pees everywhere, not just in one spot

Re: Litter training woes :(
Bunny noses are incredibly sensitive, a few miles, with a favourable wind and they will sniff other rabbits.
You're in a flat so maybe they can hear things from other flats? Sounds from neighbouring flats (especially above) could be very upsetting and send territorial instincts into overdrive.... hence the peeing.

I had this or at least a similar thought. Is something disturbing her? And what could it be?
