Snowflake - my midget hamster.
When me and the OH got Snowflake, she was the first pet we got together. I saw her in the pet shop (I was younger and naive then!), little teeny hamster, a Russian Dwarf. She was the only white one out of the litter. The OH has always loved hamsters and had them since he was small - but not the Dwarf kind. After much discussion, we went to get her. There was this man and his daughter also looking, and they were set on a Dwarf one, too. And all I could think was, please not the white one, not that one... And they didn't, I was happy, and shortly after that, I had this teeny little thing at home. It was near Christmas so we named her Snowflake.
Yesterday, my friend came over, and she is a huge hamster fan, too. So I went to give Snowflake a knock, she always comes out to see me when I tap on her house. Sometimes she's not happy about it, and squeaks at me, but usually, she comes out, all alert. She didn't yesterday. I knew then, really.. But my friend was around, I thought, maybe she isn't, maybe she's went into hibernation again, and put it to the back of my mind. I can't believe I forgot about her... Later, I went to give her some apple, and suddely I remembered. I tapped again, but still.. I knew. So I got the OH to make sure.. I couldn't face it...
She was an old lady - so I am glad to know she's had a long and happy life. I assume she passed away in her sleep. I really hope there wasn't something wrong with her that I missed.
SO here's some pictures of her, anyways. Sleep well, my little girlie.
When we first got her.
Most recent one I have of her.
