Gypsy was one of 2 baby rabbits that we took from a pet shop as they needed urgent treatment for severe eye problems they were also underage to be for sale and should have still been with their Mother.

Oh my goodness how TINY!!
Were the pet shop happy to give them up or did they want money for you saving their lives?

I admire what you both do.

We had called at the pet shop to get some rabbit food and usually my hubby Mike would pop in while I waited in the car but on this day I decided to go in the shop with him and as he was in a que of people waiting to pay for the rabbit food I spotted a little baby bunny for sale with one of it's eyes shut and I got Mike's attention and called him over.
We asked one of the staff if we could take a look at the baby bunny and he opened up the hutch and passed us this tiny baby bunny, I asked how old the baby was and he said about 8-10 weeks old and I thought 'no way'! and then Mike and I said do you know this bunny has a bad eye to which the member of staff said 'Yes I know you should see the black one's eyes'. We asked if we could look at the black bunny and again he passed us this little bundle of fur who's tiny eyes looked as if they had been superglued together they were so closed with pus. I explained that both bunnies needed treatment for their eyes and the guy said ' Er you better have a word with the boss'. So we explained the situation to the owner of the shop who looked at them and said " Oh yer I see well they won't sell I'll ring the breeder and exchange them" Shocked
We knew that the breeder would no doubt neck them and so we had to buy them, he let us have them both for £10 and we rushed them straight to our vet. Gypsy had bad scarring to one of his eyes and Angel (black bunny) had ulcerated eyes and ended up blind both babies were about 4-5 weeks old.
The pet shop eventually closed down Happy Dance & the breeder went to jail Happy Dance
