Ruby Guinea pig has a lump on her tummy - U/D Hernia

I was just putting the pigs out in their runs to munch the grass and felt a lump on Ruby's tummy area which I believe is around the reproductive organs. I brought her indoors to observe her and the lump and she is clearly in some discomfort as she starts squealing and nips when you touch the lump and the area around it.

Although you can't see the lump as it is covered in fur , you can definitely feel it. I would say at the moment it is the size of a Malteser. I have not really noticed any other symptoms, maybe drinking a bit more and resting a little more than usual and being a little grumpier with her sister Daisy. 

Ruby is just a year and half I just don't understand how/why she would have something like this so young, she is quite a chunky piggy being a red pig but I wouldn't say she is over weight, I can't believe this

We will try and get an appointment with John chitty ASAP, Hopefully tonight if it is possible. Vibes please for my little Ruby piggy

Could it be a Cyst Jack .

  

Loads of vibes. Pigs are really prone to tumors Jack, there is nothing much you can do about it, I have lost 4 of mine to internal masses thought to be tumors. Currently one of my ginger pigs, Annie, has a lump right on her uterine wall that is growing outwards above her genital area. She has had it for about 9 months now and has had very little issues apart from it being there. What I am trying to say is don't panic until it starts to cause Ruby symptoms.

Thank you all for your replies, I have never experienced this before in piggies, so I guess it could well be a cyst. I just really don't know unfortunately.

Fortunately Ruby remains active, eating like a pig still but this lump is obviously bothering her slightly. I am going to phone the vets now and try and get an appointment tomorrow with JC.

Just a quick update on Ruby - We went to see John Chitty this evening, thankfully the lump is not a cyst or a tumour. John says it is a Hernia!

JC says it is nothing to worry about for the time being; Just monitor her and check the lump every 4 days to see if it gets any bigger. If it does get too big it will have to be removed but hopefully it won't come to that yet. 

Anyway I am just glad its nothing 'too serious'
