Vibes for Theo please... tooth out, Theo home

One of Theo's incisors is growing back. It's a bottom one and it's getting quite long and very sharp. It's only six weeks or so since they just spotted it coming on his last check and decided to keep an eye on it. Humum's not sure if they'll just grind it back and see how it re-grows, or if they'll want to try getting it out with all the root  

He'll go to see the vet tomorrow and Humum imagines he might be in for one op or the other on Monday...

Poor boy.

My vet was telling me that she has currently taken in a sweet boy that was found after being put out to roam by his owners. His teeth were sticking right out and it was impossible for him to eat and drink so he was really scrawny. And just to make the story really heartbreaking, he is really really friendly. Once his teeth were removed he nommed and drunk for england!

Thanks peeps, Theo will be going in on Monday for his op. The vet said it would take as long to try to burr it back as to remove it again, so she's going for removal and if they get all the root cells out this time hopefully that might be the end of it. None of the other three show any sign of re-growing. Humum queried the cost simply because she didn't want to get the horrible shock she had with Jack's and Reggie's dentals, and Sian worked out it should only be £60-80. Humum thinks next time anybun needs molar spurs doing she'll talk it through more thoroughly with Sian first.

The good news is, Theo's weight is perfectly steady at 2kg since he came to live with us, and his molars looks fine (obviously she'll take a full look once he is knocked out too). Humum says it would be difficult to tell with Theo because there is nothing in the world that would stop him from eating

It's amazing what they'll bounce back from, and how lovely they can be afterwards. We think Theo might have been horribly neglected as a young bun. He has big skirts that seem to be excess skin, and we wonder if he was actually very overweight and when his teeth first got bad may have lost a lot of weight very quickly. He also has a strange hop, although he gets around perfectly well he doesn't really bounce off his back legs very much, it's more of a shuffle hop. Humum doesn't think he is in any discomfort now, but that he was probably confined to a small hutch for far too long  

The most heartbreaking thing about that is that he is the loveliest, friendliest, cuddly bunny who absolutely thrives on hoomin attention. Humum gets great pleasure from spending hours giving him head-scratchies and seeing him melt with pleasure. Such a shame he didn't have all that for the first years of his life

I hope all goes well for Theo's toothie work. I'm sending "toothie vibes"

It's awful to think of the life that they may have once had. I wonder how Mojo would be today if he'd not been neglected so terribly. He has a natural curiosity about people, but he can never bring himself to be quite brave enough for a stroke without bolting off

Poor guy, I'm so glad you have him now.

Lots of loving vibes are on their way love and I too am glad he has you for a mum.  It breaks my heart wondering how many lovely friendly bunnies are just forgotten and neglected, it doesn't bear thinkng about.

Theo has had his pesky tooth removed, is home and sulking  

Humum says he is still a bit dopey, so I said 'completely back to normal then?' and got sent to my room. I still get supper though so it was totally worth it  

The first thing Reuben did when he got home was go for a poo in his own litter tray

Awwww. Poor Theo lovie!  Gentle smoochies for the handsome Theo! His face just invites smooches. I want to cuddle him too but I'll wait until he feels better.

I hope that the toofer stays gone for good this time and that they got all the tooth regeneration cells out.

He's ok, apparently he can just about manage his pellets if Humum hand feeds them to him one by one  (while fending Reuben off with the other hand, of course).

He is managing food fine. He's still a little bit quiet so Humum gave him a top-up of metacam and his ears were cold so she did him a hottie and told Reuben to look after him...

I'm sorry I missed the opportunity to send any vibes for Theo when he got home yesterday, but I'm here and sending lots and lots for him now. I hope he's back to normal very soon, and that his pesky tooth is gone for good this time

Theo seems to be completely back to normal, bouncing around, begging for noms and demanding grooming from Reuben
