Vibes for Daisy UD: Daisy back home

Daisy didn't rush for her afternoon hay, normally both Patch and Daisy rush to eat it but Daisy just went inside instead.

I tried to tempt her with herbs but she hasn't been interested. Please may she have some vibes to help her eat?

Eating vibes are on their way.
Bubbles did this yesterday and than changed her mind suddenly.
Keep us posted. I got her with beet root treats.

The good news is that the vet thought Daisy was fine and her stomach felt normal but her teeth looked quite bad so she has been kept overnight so that she can have a dental tomorrow.

The vet hopes to not use GA but knowing Daisy she will need it. Patch is staying with her and as his teeth also weren't looking great they might give him a dental too.

Please can they both have lots of vibes as they are away from home overnight and have dentals tomorrow?

Sending buckets of vibes for the pair of them. Mine had theirs on Tuesday and it's always a worry.

How would they do it without a GA?? I've not heard of that before??

I don't know, I asked the vet the same question but she said she's not the expert in dentals and someone else would be doing it. I'm so worried about them, I forgot to tell the vet that they use a bowl and not a bottle   

Mega vibes for them both. Hope eveything goes well, I cannot see them not going under GA.

My Bunnies in Germany in the past that means 30 odd years ago had their teeth done without GA.
Whether this was beneficial and ok I don't know.
All of them came back a withou obvious damage.
Just make sure you larify with the vet prior to procedure.
Lots of teeth vibes sent to you.

Thanks for all the vibes. Patch and Daisy are back home now. They did the teeth without GA and said Daisy gave a bit of trouble but Patch was fine, Patch is very easy going though.

Daisy had metacam last night which allowed her to eat. They both had Zantac too. Daisy needs Zantac for the next couple of days.

Their poo is so small now but they are eating again.

Daisy came of the zantac on Sunday and has been fine through to this evening. She ate a bit of grass and a few pellets but now has stopped. She is going through a big moult at the moment too.

She doesn't look as uncomfortable as she was last time though.

Please may she have some more top up vibes to get her back to her normal self?

If she is not eating the first thing I would do would be to get her on a pain killer something might be hurting her.   - do you have any Metacam?  

It may be just that she is off - My concern, so soon after a dental would be an infection - esp with them doing the dental without GA.  It only takes a little nick in the mouth from a wriggly bun.  

I'm a little bit horrified they did it that way to be honest, and I'd Deffo be asking to see a different vet.

If she's not eating tomorrow is ask then to xray her jaw and check for abscess. :-(

Daisy has nibbled broccoli this morning, had a few pellets and a small amount of hay (one or two strands). She has very small poo and only5 of them all night.

I will get her to the vet today but she seems a bit better than yesterday evening, she even went for a run round the garden and seemed fine eating grass

Daisy (and Patch for company) are back in the vets. Daisy's tummy is a bit sensitive, she is in pain and has some damage to the back of her tongue. The are going to put her on a programme of treatments to tempt her to eat and poo. If she is eating and pooing normally then she will come home otherwise she will have sedation and potentially more dental work.

I would almost definately say that she still has a hook in there.

I know that my vet (who is an expert in his field) has said he quite often cant even see the teeth while they are awake, and so they need to be put out just for a look.....so its more than possible that her teeth were not filed properly and she still has a spike.

I dont see that they could possibly have done the job properly without holding her down, forcing her jaw open with a jaw clamp, and then getting the filing tools in there. And I would hope that no vet would do that to a concious rabbit...how completely terrifying.

So I think, she prob still has a dental issue in there.

Also, some of it rang alarm bells with me because of what happened to my Daisy - here is his story - not to scare you, but just so you are aware of what can happen when dentals are not done as they should be.

Not long after having my Daisy, he had a dental that wasnt carried out the way that it should have been - about a week later his eating slowed and while he still nibbled, I knew that something was wrong. i took him back to the same vets 7 times, and 7 times they told me that there was nothing wrong. 3 weeks later he was in complete stasis and I demanded to be referred to a specialist. (who is now our regular vet)
It turned out that during the original dental, somehow an infection had gotten into the mouth and then into the bone and it had abscessed causing pain (hence the nibbling). It had also caused his throat to become inflamed.
Because the infection was not picked up quickly enough, 4 years on, we are still battling with it and we have had to accept that the abscess he has will never go away and we have to just manage it. So he has been on Baytril and Metacam for 4 years and I have to watch him like a hawk.

Whatever happened to him in that first vets changed him as a bun too - he went from a trusting loving guy, to a jumpy, grumpy, never trusting little rabbit, which broke my heart.

Im sure it is nothing like this with your Daisy, but I just thought it might be best to be aware that these things do happen.
