fao sparky or anyone with antibiotic injection experience

Hi sparky (or anyone) the pasteurella saga continue s ...we finally tried something new which didnt work for istvan and as last resort are now on the 3 daily injections. He had his first one today I have read up on the risks and am fairly petrified.....i ws just hoping to find out your experience of how your bun was on the injections...istvan had his first this morn, he is as normal but has had two slightly caecal like poops......normal? Tia guys

With our lot you would never even know they had had an injection, and we have had several on it. Dougal pretends to be dead, but that's whenever he is handled (or looked at sternly), not just after an injection   

What did you read? It might be better not to know   

Are you doing them at home? My Humum is not keen on doing the injections but feels it is better than dragging buns to the vets every 3 days...

Thanks so much for your reply hun, I wish id never read up on it!! Istvan is sulking from his vet trip today, but seems ok, apart from a few squishy poops, the vets kept.saying about big risks but they thought were worth taking so I looked it up and its all about fatal diarrhoea so of.course now.im following him round checking every poop which a few are squishy which he never has, I cant be 100% they are his and not oakeys (recently had a hair.blockage so been fed.lots of danders which has moved it) but Im fairly sure they are his. We are doing the jabs at home but ive roped in my childrens nurse friend to do the jabbing as im highly penicillen allergic and pregnant, although if theres a day she cant do I dont mind tbh the vet was more worried about it. Humum has done dozens of these injections and has yet to jab herself   but it's good you have help.

Is he on alamycin like us or is it a different one? Depocillin? That's used a lot for abscesses in buns...

We have less reaction to these as injections than we do to any oral abx. I hope Istvan does ok on them and they help him

Ohh looked it up.its ultrapen LA which sounds very similiar to alamycin in that its for use in large farm animals against organisms sensitive to penicillen. Fingers crossed!! Xx
