No ... turns out there's a badger drinking from the dust bin lid I put out as a bird bath. It's just outside the sitting room window and (between stamps) heard it burping, slurping and grunting.

Prolonged stamping gets me nervous. Living alone in a wood half a mile or more from my nearest neighbour ... well, it could be anything or ANYONE he's heard.

He really is a good early warning system. Glad it's a badger - even if it dies offend Henners x

Re: Okay enough is enough....
If I thought he was noisy last night he was like a stampede of wild horses this morning.
I've had an underground power cable laid to the cottage and today they came to run the cable up the wall ready to feed through and connect to the meter. First the voices by the front porch had him sitting by the front door, ears up and forward and both hinders sending out a what can only be termed as a "filthy message".
Then, almost an hour later, after those chaps had gone, along came the transporter and crane thingy with the generator that is going to be our power source from 5th to 10th May while new poles are erected along the valley. Well a second invasion really got under his scut. He was racing from dining room to sitting room stamping and grunting.
I tried to calm him down and we did have a lovely moment when we shared an Eskimo kiss. (I know Eskimo's not PC and I should say Inuit but it doesn't sound right to say an Inuit kiss!)
Oh, he's had a busy day playing guard bunny. Now, after a half an hours massage, he's snoring on the hearth rug ... and peace reigns.
