Diet? Empty Diet?

Post by lucyface Sat Dec 18, 2010 10:20 am

I've noticed there isn't a section on diets or feeding habits. I'm sure there's not too much variation, but i would like to know what hay you all use. I use one from pets at home and its quite expensive because of how much they get through, what do you all use? I tried them on a cheaper one, but they didn't touch it.
Thanks Smile

I get my meadow hay from an equine supplier. It is generally much fresher and nicer than anything from P@H (which I found very dry and dusty) and it is much cheaper. I get a bale which is 2' x 3' x 1' and it costs me £6 and lasts for ages.

I know some people buy timothy hay and there are suppliers who specialise in different types of hay for treats. The Hay Experts

Daisy is really fussy with his hay so his works out quite expensive too. OH says its my fault for spoiling him.....I suspect he's right!

We get ours from The Hay Experts.

I use a bag of timothy hay from a local pet shop but i'm looking into getting it from garden centres instead.

Diet? Empty Re: Diet?

Last year I bought 6 square bales and stored them in the garage. I have always been horsey so thought it was easiest. I still have 2 bales left but with them being stored so long I dont want to use them (I also think thats where some mites I had to deal with came from). The fresh bales were great though. I have tried other hays, timothy hay is expensive and with 9 rabbits and 5 guines a bag would last a day. I hate to say it but the one that they finish every drop of and dont get the runs on is asdas own, very fresh and obv tasty! They also get burgess nuggets and vedgies.
