Lack of information available
So I went shopping today and went in waterstones and whsmiths...looked at the magazines and pet sections for rabbit books. Most of the shelves were completely full with books on cats and dogs (mostly dogs)...I found one book on rabbits and in smiths there were no magazines about rabbits. However, I've read a fair few times that rabbits are apparently nearly as popular or equally so as cats or dogs as pets, this obvious lack of info is so frustrating - no wonder so many rabbits are not cared for properly!
On a brighter note, printed photos of my babies today and put them up in my room in pretty frames
I am running out of wall space I have so much art work and photos around...

Re: Lack of information available
I have an excellent rabbit book, it has most of the illnesses/diseases a rabbit can get along with causes & treatment amongst other things too.

Re: Lack of information available
I know there are books out there and I can look online for one too, it was just a general observation that there's so little available compared to dog/cat books when rabbits are nearly as popular.

Re: Lack of information available
I know its these tiny little books, with breed etc. in...but you don't get anything in depth! It would be nice to have a rabbit magazine, I may look online for one...maybe they'll have something on the WHSmiths website.. *goes to loook*

Re: Lack of information available
Apologies if I'm telling you something you already know, but if you join the Rabbit Welfare Association, they send you Rabbiting On magazine 4 times a year. It's fab - lots of useful info, advice, photos, etc.LilyGrace wrote:I know its these tiny little books, with breed etc. in...but you don't get anything in depth! Totally agree with you on the lack of widely available books and magazines - as you say, no wonder so many rabbits are badly cared for.

Re: Lack of information available
There must be a market surely?
I bet there are loads of people who go into shops looking for info on their bunnies.
I was in a book shop the other day and looked for Anne McBrides book and they didnt have it.
I dont understand it!

Re: Lack of information available
I agree, I've had to buy all but 1 book on-line, and that was Ingrid Tarrent's 'Rabbit whisperer' which was next to useless. There are a million rabbits in households in the Uk, the lack of easily accessible books just demonstrate how they are not taken seriously.
I don't know if you've see this, but we have a section on bunny books here, whcih have been reviewed. There are plenty more which should go on there, so if you get one that hasn't been reviewed, please do
As well as Rabbitting on, a lady called Lisa produces a mag called 'Bunny mad' Clicky, Theo brought me a copy and it's really good
You can get it from amazon

I've never seen it in any book shop, but it is shortly going to be on sale in P@H, as she has written their new bunny care book, and they've agreed to stock 'why does my rabbit...' as well.Katieb wrote:I was in a book shop the other day and looked for Anne McBrides book and they didnt have it.

Re: Lack of information available
The libraries are just as bad. Try finding a bunny book in there. They may have one which is dated, but try finding anything new. Maybe it is just my library and others are fine.
