Daisy has a Sticky Eye UD nothing horrid.
The last day or so daisy has had a bit of goo, coming out of his eye. Not a massive amount - but enough so that its not normal.
Nothing has changed, food, hay or litter wise, there's no dust or anything like that.
He has a vet appointment tomorrow night to get it looked out.
What should the vet be doing to check this out? Can they look into his eye to make sure there is nothing behind it? What should I be expecting them to do?

Re: Daisy has a Sticky Eye UD nothing horrid.
As well as checking the eye it would be worth having a look in his mouth too, and also at his nose/listen to his chest. I suspect in the first instance he'll be given eye drops (Tiacil or Fucithalmic) and if those don't work that would likely rule out an infection/conjunctivitis and the vets will then consider other causes.

^^^^^^^^ What the boss said. You could try bathing it with some warm water in the mean time too. Hugs for Daisy x

Re: Daisy has a Sticky Eye UD nothing horrid.
It might be connected with his teeth. He is a dental bunny. Please don't worry about it being serious as Felix has a gummy eye and has been like that for the last two years. It has been much better since he went to live with Wolfie who cleans it for him. So you could always give it a lick for him - better than a hamster.

Re: Daisy has a Sticky Eye UD nothing horrid.
Apart from being in a horrendous sulk he's fine. It is a blocked tear duct. They have washed his eyes out and put some dye in his eye to make sure everything is now flowing as it should be.
The vet was very thorough and gave him an MOT.
I'm going to be paying for this for a while.
Glad he is okay tho, my beautiful, stroppy monkey

Watch out, something will be destroyed very soon. Store all valuables under lock and key!
Glad to hear he is OK. It's lovely when they crack it after a vet, makes you know they care

Re: Daisy has a Sticky Eye UD nothing horrid.
Delighted that he is fine and well. Hope he isn't too bad for you.
I was concerned that you were worried about it being something serious like what Gloria had. Hope you didn't worry too much.
Felix has a blocked duct and managed really well with it. It has been so much better since he went in with Wolfs.
Give Daisy a noserub from me.

Glad he's ok, you're gonna suffer for a while I suspect
Re: Daisy has a Sticky Eye UD nothing horrid.
Glad it was nothing serious, Daisy should be grateful too, little does he know what he might have had to put up with!

That is great news, he will come out of his sulk soon.

Mine will be sulking tomorrow because they are getting bundled into a box and taken to the vet for their VHD. I have got my vet to order in Antivac so hope that everything is OK.

Good luck for tomorrow Nickie......upsetting two of them....ouch!!!
Let me know how it goes with the Antivac.
Sending nose rubs.......if wolfie doesnt want them, felix can have his share.

Re: Daisy has a Sticky Eye UD nothing horrid.
Well they have had their jabs and they both seem OK. I'll have a feel of their scruffs tomorrow to check the injection site.
Wolfie was in deepest sulk mode for the whole day and sat in his bed and even ignored pellets. I gave them half their breakfast first then gave the rest afterwards. Felix really lucked out as he got the lion's share for once as Wolfie was being a numptie.
He completely objected to having his teeth examined and the look he gave the vet was nothing if not psychotic!! He also did the tortoise thing that he does so well when he pulls his neck right in and becomes a little ball of fury. I was glad to get him back in the box because he is very unpredictable and can just launch himself in any direction. That's it until April!!
Felix was a total love and just let them do everything. He doesn't like having his teeth looked at and it is the ONLY time I have ever heard a grunt from him. His tooth that I have to clip is fine (did it myself for the first time around Christmas. Urrghhh)
The vet said they were a perfect weight and said that most bunnies she sees are overweight. She was lovely and seemed to really like bunnies - even though she is allergic to them - and has recently qualified from the Royal D1ck's in Edinburgh.

I can picture wolfies face now.....
He must be upset if he's avoiding food! Blimey!
Nothing quite like a cut off your nose to spite your face protest!
