Chewy keeps licking everything.
I've noticed that for the past few days Chewy has been licking everything. My hands, his hutch floor, the walls, the glass table...
I was wondering why he might be doing that.
He's doing great apart from that. Maybe i need to buy him a salt lick or something similar?

Re: Chewy keeps licking everything.
What food is he on, maybe there is something lacking in his diet.
One of my bridge rabbits started eating the cat's litter after he'd
had massive surgery. That was about 8 years ago so I cannot
remember exactly, but from what I can remember the vet said it
was probably because he needed some supplement or another. It
the clay type litter.
Someone will probably be along soon who will have a better anwer though.

Re: Chewy keeps licking everything.
He eats timothy hay and alfalfa pellets (about a tablespoon in the morning and one in the evening). He has daily greens too.
A while ago I did some research about the composition of the pellets, following advice of users here, and the pellets I use have the right content in the right amount.
So I'm not sure what could be missing in his diet.

Re: Chewy keeps licking everything.
Hmm, maybe boredom, although he still plays with his toys and runs and binkies when he's outside, he does stop playing pretty quickly to start licking stuff.
I'll get him a couple of new toys and see what happened.
And affection, I really don't think so. Chewy isn't a people loving bunny.

He may just bit a licky bun My roo is a licky bun! She will lay infront of the heater, licking the floor all around her! She also licks the leg of the coffee table, my foot rest, my face, hands, jeans, jumper, socks...And sometimes when im stroking her, I struggle to get a hand in edgeways due to her incessant licking

Re: Chewy keeps licking everything.
Yeah I think that comes from the natural grooming instinct in them. Have you tried putting a Teddy in with him?
Re: Chewy keeps licking everything.
It surprises me because in the 3 years I've had him he's never done this before.
I'll try to give him a teddy, but I'm afraid he might chew on it, so I'll keep a close eye on him.

I know this is a late reply haha, but I just joined
How did you get on with the teddy?
After Tigger lost her friend I gave her a stuffed rabbit for in her bed and she loves it. She doesn't chew on it, she cuddles with it at night and when I took her to the vets not long ago I looked in the carry case and saw her grooming it. It was adorable
She likes to lick also, but it only ever seems to be my jeans and on the odd occasion my finger. I think it may be grooming and affection?
I'm going to buy her a salt lick as well though just to make sure she's getting everything.
