Progress with the litter training!!
What a turnaround! I'd all but given up on litter training Rosie and Hutch. I decided that I would shut the hutch door overnight so they can't access the run and have poo and wee explosions all over the place! At least it would halve the area I have to sweep out and clear up each morning before the school run. Well anyway, I gave them 3 litter boxes, shut the hutch and said goodnight.
In the morning there was no wee, still a lot of poo but no wee! Yippee!! I didn't hold my breath just incase it was a fluke, but it has been 5 nights now and they haven't wee'd anywhere but the litter boxes! Yesterday I bought some carpet tiles and carpeted the hutch, still no wees and less poos!!
They are still shut in the hutch overnight which I'd rather they weren't but I'll try the hutch open in time. They don't have bedding as such as they pee in it, but they do have a deep litter box stuffed with hay. My next step is to replace the litter box with towels inside a cardboard box so they can snuggle into it at night. I also put the small trixie house in their run so they can sit in and on it, they did wee in that but there was newspaper in it so I put a carpet tile in there instead so I'll see what they do with that.
I'm so pleased though, I don't dread seeing to them in the mornings now and I like them to have the carpet tiles so it's warm on their feet and they do like sitting on them. I am now considering getting a tunnel pipe leading onto the run on the grass, so they have extra space to play. I didn't want to get one for them before as they just used to pee and poo in tunnels!
Just wanted to share this huge turnaround in their toileting habits, I really am delighted that they are cleaning up their act!

Re: Progress with the litter training!!
Oh fantastic So glad, it can sometimes take something completely unexpected to sort an issue out. I'm guessing that they were maring all their terratory, but if they have none to mark, overnight, then there's no 'issue'
