Carlo and his mucky bum
I am still struggling to keep Carlo's bum clean. there are never any excess Caecs, sometimes there is just little brown stains on his towel where he snoozes.
He gets a tiny bit of SS and loads of lovely hay. I have stopped feeding veg as I wondered if it was this.
Bobby has no probs at all gut wise, but i just worry as the summer is coming, any ideas guys?

Re: Carlo and his mucky bum
yeah, I'd give him lots of hay and just a handful of veggies, see if that fixes it. Hope he's ok.
Re: Carlo and his mucky bum

Re: Carlo and his mucky bum
Some rabbits just seem, regardless of what you do, to always be slightly prone to having mucky bottoms. You could try a pro-biotic supplement to see if that might help as well...although....have SS not started adding pro-biotic to the feed? It's been so long since I used it I can't remember.
I use Allan & Page and that already had pro-biotic added.

Re: Carlo and his mucky bum
I have tried no pelletts before in all honesty, and I just got mugged everytime I go into his room
I use ss actually. Do you think it's worth me trying a pro biotic?
He never leaves his special poops, he just has a skiddy bum, which he gets cleaned every few days, luckily he is a good bunny and never wiggles too much xx

Re: Carlo and his mucky bum
pro B's have always helped mine. You can get Bio - Lapis form the vet or Pro-C from the pet shop. I prefer Bio-lapis, both mine love it and eat it out of the sachet, whereas ProC I have to put in water and they've not taken to that so much.
Re: Carlo and his mucky bum
Oh thanks Jay, i will pop to the vet on Saturday... should I just give a little at first?? Like introducing new foods?

It comes in sachets, I usually get 10 at a time. Just spinkle half on his brekky and half on his dinner

It's not listed as an ingredient on their website, but they have added Omega 3 & 6Sooz wrote:have SS not started adding pro-biotic to the feed? It's been so long since I used it I can't remember.

You should only exclude them for a week, say and see if it improves, as a process of elimination. They do need some pellets, just not too many, about 7g a day - a eggcup full.
Re: Carlo and his mucky bum

Re: Carlo and his mucky bum
maybe thats just what it is, this is day one of the no pelletts, I had one angry little bunny on my hands, and he was a bit agressive toward Bobby, even though I fed her in a different room he just knew, and unfortunatley a little scuffle broke outjolovesbunnies wrote:That's great Shellpops; I had a bun like that, healthy as anything but never wiped her botty properly LOL!!!

Re: Carlo and his mucky bum
I am glad they are back together now and all is harmonius. When my two pussy cats think they have waited too long for one of their many meals each day, they get nasty with each other. I think this is probably common with most animals.
